      Hi new flame owner,

She is just superb as she was when I purchased her.

Except this small noise. I read the article that you have posted.

I have to check whether there is any drain plug under my flame's engine.

Have you seen the drain plug in your flame?

I'm expecting some flame owners to recommend a good oil that you use for your bike. Please post it ASAP.

      Thanks.

        Hi Guys........
Every 4 stroke Bike will have a Drain Valve under thier Engine - to empty the engine oil --- so Flame is not an Exception....
You can touch your engines bottom and see there will be a big screw - that screw needs to be loosened lightly - so that the Engine oil will come out....(do not do this if the engine is hot)
If you are a newbie go to any Local mechanic shop and ask them to replace the oil - they will only charge 10 or 20 rs for doing this(remember you bye the oil to replace)....

The best oil for Flame is an Semi-synthetic Oil
Im using Valvoline 4t Champ 20W40....
There are other Semi-synthetic Oils available in the market which are also good.....But remember stick with any one oil - which you have to use for the whole life time of your Bike.......

However I would like to know what is the defect in TVS 4T oil, isn't it a semi synthetic oil .

Hi Thunder bro, Thanks for the reply.. In addition to Balachandre's query - Can i ask a quick one ...

I am having terrible problem with FLAME on cold start... this is what happens

Engine comes up in one stroke (kick / buttn push) ... But the engine does not stay when I raise the throttle even a bit .. engine shuts off ... Again comes back in one kick / push .. but does not stay put ...

I have to force the engine with a choke and then start running the vehicle for a few meters (the engine stutters here).. and then the engine stays ....

Well after that no issues ... but only in mornings..

            I have tried:
            a) start engine with choke - idle for more 3 minutes - then give throttle
            b) start engine without choke - idle for more 3 minutes - then give throttle
            c) all other combinations that one can think off

What cud be the issue ???

see all the bike need to be started with choke only but most of us do not do which will harm the liner as there is no oil being circulated at the instance hence do start without choke & intial starts to be avoided in elec which will conk of the bat

one more thing give the bike some 3-4 idle kicks (read it as do not put the ignition in 'on' position)

later start with ele/kick with choke in 'on' position run it for just 30 sec throttle it twice not hard & not in choke

ride the bike initially with right gear at lower speed without any burst in acc to make the oil circulate & in right operating temp later u can rip/rape or do ur stuff

if this is followed the bike will have good health

This Cold start is common in all the bikes.......
But while experimenting there is an Unique issue with Flame - I meant only flame not Flame SR.....
Flame doesnt have an Fuel Tap
                  If works in Vaccum technology
If the ignition is switched off - the fuel flow will be stopped
If the ignition is on again the Fuel Flow will be active
So by in this way - there is an some path left from the Fuel Cockpit and the Carberrator....
Where the Vaccum technlogy is neverthless working - thus making that part more Cold at night time......
So as soon as we start the bike after parking for more than 6 hours - it will not start easily(but it does if you have parked it in heavy sunlight)
                  To avoid these
Use the Clutch for an amount of 5 times before starting the bike - this will active the engine oil which has been settled for long duration
Use Choke while starting - Pull the Choke and press the Self start leave it for few seconds,,,,Now release the choke and accelerate lightly - your bike will start easily.....
There is no need to use Kicker - as till date ive used Kicker only one or two times......
If the above doesnt working - then your Carb needs to be Tuned.......

                  Engine Oil:

TVS engine oil is an Mineral oil.....
The reason why TVS oil is a Crap is it has many dissolved Minerals in it....though there is not much harm in that....They will not provide maximum smoothness .......Its not JASO Certified,,,,,,
TVS Oil was suitable only for thier Old 4 strokes....
Flame has 3valved Engine and its an Austrian Technology....But the Oil they use in it is an Local Mineral - which gives the bike a Non Smooth Ride....

Valvoline Semi synthetic oil made my bike a New one
You wont believe that after changing to Valvoline - everything got creeped up
                  1 - Smoother gear shifts
                  2 - Better pickup
3 - Longer Duration for oil changings (2500) TVS oil will shwoff at even (1800 - 2000)
4 - Lesser Vibratins and engine sound......
So try this oil and you can feel the difference......

                    Hi IflyLow,

Even I have coldstart problem. All Flame owners are giving good valuable suggestions but spending 30 seconds to 3 minutes just to start the vehicle doesn't sounds good because others are just giving a kick and then they zooooom.

However, I don't have that much trouble. I have to use the choke to start my vehicle and hold it for 3 seconds. Then my engine will stay.

Two days back I complained about that to TVS using their contact us page and today I received a call from them. They say that Flame SR 125 wouldn't have this problem, if it does have then bring it to the nearest dealer and we will fix it. So, IflyLow now immediately contact this number (044-24950018) and tell that you own SR 125 and have coldstart problem. This will make TVS to do something for us .

And one more very pathetic thing happened yesterday. I left my vehicle in the parking lot of my office and some idiots were doing the spray painting work there. All that paint (white) fell like snow on my bike and made it look horrible. I tried to remove the white paint by applying kerosene and it works good to some extent on metal regions but very difficult on plastic regions. However I fear that doing like this will damage my bike's beautiful and glossy black color in few days. Is there any other alternative method to remove the paint. I'm too much worried

No they will not help us in this aspect......
TVS FLAME SR 125 has an Fuel Cock.....(fuel tap) - where the vaccum technology doesnt comes into play....
TVS FLAME doesnt has any such Fuel tap or cock - Ive myself tried to diagnoise this issue and went in Failure....the only way to stop cold start problems in TVS FLAME is to put an fuel tap in it.....

Sorry for this brother - but there is nothing you can do on this AFAIK...
You can take you bike to one of the sticker shops - and they will have some kind of solution for this.....

Hey Thunder bro, sorry for posting late after having asked a question.. Stuck at work .

Neverthless .. God bless u.. thanks for the reply on the coldstart / mineral oil. I was thinking of sticking to TVS oil till the first 1000 KM and then shift to the oil that you use....

and @gbalachander - I tried thunder's suggestions - the cold start problem goes away - atleast sort of goes away - Pull clutch multiple times, kick start / ES WITHOUT ignition some 2-3 times.. then start with choke ... it worked yesterday after office hours for me ... I will try for a couple of days and then will let you know...

                        and

IMHO, Kick and zoom are not good for the engine life either way... Not to say that we need to kick a lil extra is good .. but yeah .. other side is not good either ....

and yeah ... Feel really sorry for the painting disaster ... Be careful with using any solvents to erase the paint on the bike though ...

                        Keep u guys posted

Flame SR 125 also works on vaccum technology. Whenever I turn the ignition key to ON position I can hear a mild "tick" sound from the fuel tank. But since this technology is not working as good as expected they have provided the fuel cock as supplementary.

I'm trying my best to remove the white paint from my vehicle using Kerosene and seems to work. Probably I have to spend one full day for my vehicle to remove all of them. Currently I have some work to do after that I will dedicate time for my vehicle. I'm not going to leave that white paint damage the beauty of my vehicle, I will make her shine again. Then I will change the oil.

I would also like to share one important thing about the engine temperature. Whenever the engine is hot I get lot of noise from engine and also the max speed decreases but when the temperature is low my bike runs faster. I think this is primarily because of oil. What you people think.

                            Bike Warranty question ?

One more quick one for experience TVS flame owners --- How does the warranty work ? The Showroom mechs are a bunch of jokers - but the showroom sales is decent.... I am not at all intereseted in giving the bike for servicing at the showroom ... Theres a mech who does my bullet (He does yezdi / Jawa / and other mods0.. So kinda experienced guy If i give my new FLAME to LOCAL MECH and NOT to the SAME showroom, am I violating my warranty ? if yes what would not i get ? i went thru the manual but could not come to a conclusion on that

Well don't expect anything such as warranty because you can see that in the manual they have mentioned that they will provide warranty only if it is the fault made by TVS and they will never accept any fault as theirs. If they would have then they should have provided compensation to all Flame (not SR 125) owners for cold start and other related problems.

You are 100% right about the service they will be doing. They will do nothing except doing water wash or cleaning the vehicle and just changing the oil. I doubt whether they had changed my oil or not in the first service. So, you may go to local mechanic itself if you want some custom operations to be made because you are an experienced biker.
