Well thats good. But IMO, they should go ahead with the race and keep things as "normal" as possible. It will give the people affected some hope and make them feel that "we are indeed with them", unlike some fellow with stickers on his bikes every race saying "we are with you japan".

In other news, its probably Ducati for Karel Abraham in 2012.

Funny Incident: I got a lot of Rossi goodies (keychains, stickers, etc.) for my wife and now she is a Rossi fan. But seeing the results this year she has given an ultimatum that she will become a Stoner fan if Rossi doesn't win or get good results in the coming races. LOL!

Good for you guys...having supportive partners....,

@Sumit: show her the old rossi races....from the old days..download the "10 best races of rossi" etc...., that would finish the matter once and for all...

One of my friends broke his collarbone....while his recuperation I talked about motogp riders and their endurance limit...told him about pedrosa...now this guy has become a big fan himself...am happy to initiate another motogp fan...

Ducati And Honda 2012 MotoGP Testing "Completely Legal" | MotoMatters.com | Kropotkin Thinks

The answer comes directly from the horse's mouth. In an email exchange with MotoMatters.com, MotoGP Technical Director Mike Webb has revealed that his office (in charge of ensuring compliance with MotoGP's technical regulations) has been closely monitoring the tests of the 2012 machines. "Actually we had already foreseen the possibility of controversy surrounding 1000cc tests being used for 800s," Webb said, "so the inspector at Ducati's Mugello test was in fact my technical assistant responsible for MotoGP engine sealing and tracking."

Having the man whom Webb describes as "the man in the paddock with most intimate knowledge of what and where each MotoGP engine is" monitoring who was riding which bike and what capacity the bikes the contract riders (in this case, Rossi and Hayden) were riding was Dorna's guarantee that the rules were being respected. The Ducati test was complicated by the fact that while Rossi and Hayden were testing the GP12, Ducati's official test riders Franco Battaini and team boss Vittoriano Guareschi were testing the latest iteration of the GP11, the machine that Rossi is to race at Assen, so to ensure that they were being totally transparent about the test, Ducati invited Webb's assistant into their garage for the full duration of the test. "He stayed there from dawn to dusk every day," Webb told MotoMatters.com, "observing who rode which bike and when. He was given full access to inspect whatever he wanted, with full cooperation from Ducati. This also includes measuring the GP12 engine to confirm that it was not an 800 engine in disguise."
the additional thing which this means is that the GP11 engine and GP12 chassis are already tested together...

              Thanks King
Reading the comments beneath the article also reveals a lot of interesting things. Like this one:
Ducati And Honda 2012 MotoGP Testing "Completely Legal" | MotoMatters.com | Kropotkin Thinks

Personally I feel what Ducati has done is well outside what the rules regarding testing were designed for. They have used a factory rider to test parts for this year's bike. Outside the sanctioned 800cc test sessions. The engine capacity of the bike he was riding is irrelevant, as that is not the change that was being tested. But regardless...

My question is though, my understanding is that the engine required changes in order for the new rear end configuration to actually fit, so Rossi will be using a new engine at Assen. I understand this will be his 4th engine for the year. I assume then that the three engines already used will not fit the new chassis, so Rossi must complete the season on his remaining three engines.

My question is, if those three engines are not enough to reach the end of the year (which is quite possible) will Dorna allow Ducati to modify the already used engines to fit the new frame, or will Rossi be forced back to the old chassis. Or do you think they will just put in a new engine and take the grid drop penalty?
Edit: As mentioned above I wonder how will they manage the three new engines (or rather new bike itself) for next 12 races. They would have to come back to older engines which would mean going back to problematic chassis.
Or as other comments say, they will take the penalty for using new engines all the way.
But going back to older engine and Chassis might not be that bigger of a problem. Nicky can't use the newer engine but he will be getting an upgrade for the chassis for Assen. This upgraded chassis is a step forward to solving the rear grip issues, whether it is really a step forward we'll see in Assen.
              Very interesting times ahead

As predicted yesterday, Dani Pedrosa won't ride at Assen. He will be replaced by Hiro Aoyama, and Kousuke Akiyoshi goes to Gresini.

                • Ok this might be off-topic in terms of discussions going on but I found a cool use of google Chrome:

I face a lot of difficulty going through the tweets from non-english speaking motosports celebrities (for e.g. DennisNoyes: some of his tweets are in spanish) in the midst of all the english ones. Here is the solution:

If you have google chrome browser install the plugin for google translate. Once installed just activate the plugin on the twitter page. It will translate all the non-english tweets to english leaving the english ones intact. Now all the tweets are in english

                      • Guys, I believe there should be a "Legends" or "UltimateGP" Class/ Category in MotoGP which should have these rules:

                        1. Only 4-5 racers, on 1000 or 1200cc inline-4 bikes.

                        2. Only 10 laps, and all soft compound tyres/ mods allowed.

                        3. Minimum weight of same 150 kgs and exactly 12 litres of fuel allowed.

These gunslingers (Rossi, Lorenzo, Stoner, Simoncelli, etc.) should all be kicked into this class!
Just my thought though, the factories don't have money for this!

                        • well the current six teams confirmed for motogp grid next season are all existing m,oto 2 teams..so i guess we would have more than 1 rider moving up.

But i completly agree with your 2nd statement

I think I played a game which had this category

P.S:- Stoner needs a different kind of class, the one with the WRC rules. He'd get to start and finish alone, no Randy wud block his racing line then.......
