Exactly as promised, Valentino Rossi came out for free practice wearing his latest celebratory helmet design. It features an enormous blue eye - Rossi's blue eye, to be exact - just above the visor, almost as if to say, "I see you, and I'm coming for you!"
Aldo Drudi, a long time friend of Valentino's and designer of the helmet, explained how it came about: "The first step was to decide on a theme, which this time was less specific to the moment but still related to what happened last year. The specific idea came from Stefano Marchi, my right hand man, and Valentino liked it immediately. We took a photograph of Valentino's pupil, and then reproduced it on the helmet. The meaning is twofold: look out because Mugello can hurt you, and also watch out because sooner or later things will turn around..."
"This year, as opposed to in the past, we were actually finished ahead of time. From the concept to production took just two weeks. The picture was combined with the Tricolore, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Italian unification, and a picture of Valentino's dogs, taken by Vale himself. Stoner on-pole for Mugello! ***** off the track but a real eager-dog on it..He was just too quick today.Disappointment for both Ped and Rossi;8th and 12th,respectively.If it rains,Rossi will manage but Pedrosa will be having tough time tomorrow..
I can't remember seeing one full lap by either Rossi or Pedrosa today..At the end Rossi did show-up but that was rather pointless.
If you ride like there's no tomorrow...worry not there won't be!Comment

Valentino Rossi took the victory after full restart brought on by a brief rain shower put the race to a standstill just six laps from the end.

Ha ha ha Dani denying Sic's handshake

Now I have started to feel Dani is taking it too far though his anger is understandable. But there is something that says Dani is much more angrier on himself than Sic and hence trying to put it all on Sic for his injury.
Though it is Rossi's ritual in Mugello that the new helmet design is shown off but it feels so hollow without his performance
Edit: Anybody following the SMS controversy involving Sic and Dani?
Apparently Sic sent an apology message to Dani's swiss number (which he got from Valentino) but Dani denies getting any message...

True,that he is frustrated with injuries,title,races and his career.I wouldn't blame him(partly beacause I am a fan and partly because he should be!).Simoncelli's riding might impress fans and have made MotoGP intriguing again but for the guy whose championship and career has been ruined because of him wouldn't even like to see Simoncelli again,let alone shaking hands.The mental pressure that Dani is going through..well,I am sure tomorrow morning we will see that all.He's lost confidence and didn't look motivated today/yesterday.Practice session,he was all slow throughout and I cannot recall the last time I saw him at 8th place on-pole..
About the sms thingy..The commentators were also talking about it.As far as I can make out,Sic took Pedrosa's number from someone(don't know if it was Rossi) he typed apology and sent it.But the number was incorrect or Sic sent to it someone else.Also,Pedrosa was having his surgery then.So it's yet unknown whether it was an error or done on-purpose.Well,I guess the commentators were discussing this and were laughing about it..If you ride like there's no tomorrow...worry not there won't be!Comment

poor Dani... has to start from the third row...
at 61 points... he was 2nd in the championship...
trailing Lorenzo by just 4 points after Estoril.
yea he's back tomorrow... but still at 61 points.
so i can understand his frame of mind.
he should take all the time he needs to recover...
he's got nothing to lose (anymore) anyway.

this article seems kinda downbeat...he seems to have accepted that he is gonna come 5th-6th..., hope he rides hard...Now I would prefer him trying and crash(like casey) rather than come 5th again...
"We expected to go better at Mugello, and instead we struggled here as well. I don't feel good with the front, so I lose a lot on corner entry, and I can't ride the bike well. As for the rear, we've made progress, and the GP11.1 has solved some issues.
"Acceleration is better, but we still have to work with the front. Obviously, we'll try our best in the race, although it will be hard, but in any case we'll gather experience that will be useful in the future."Comment

We are going to watch Rossi on his own background!Mugello is a paradise for overtaking if your up to it!Rossi should have some edge since hes the local boy!
@kingkong : spot on! we rather see him fight hard and crash than just being safe idle!that being said, he would like to get those laps under his belt since the ducati is still under the testing phase!Comment

Stoner failed to impress in warm up.. He was nothing close to his yesterdays lap rec (given that it came on race tires). Top 3 r honda lying very close to each other.. Spies is impressive again!
Yup, initially it was ok, in terms of gathering data etc on the bike.. But in Mugello he should try hard.. 0.3s betweem Rossi and Hayden.. Scintillating 125 race. Terol made it look stupid letting go Zarco all the race and picking him up in the last corner.
Hopefully we'll have similar races in other classes.
PS: Terol needs to stop doing this when he moves up the classes unless he gets the best bike and setup every time he is out on the track
