Ben Spies is did out number his regular motoGP team mates for 2 out of the 3 GP he raced in.

the only reason he din't take up moto GP is because he did not want to finish last in motogp races where bike could not challenge the front runners. so whats the point!!!!
You are correct, to an extent, in what you say abt the rider/machine combo in MotoGP. But how do you explain the results of the Stoney/Ducati when the rest of Ducati riders have been 2 secs off the pace.

Ben Spies has been a 3 time AMA superbike champion, his talent was never in doubt. The biggest bugbear was his money demands. AMA is know to pay big bucks and in the current financial situation he was not ready to take a pay cut. Its not that he did not want to ride in MotoGP, none of the teams were not ready to take him up.

Coming to the races, I am so happy for Biaggi and Aprilia, what a result. Ben Spies was awesome. Coming to a track he had never seen and dominating all but one session is truly amazing.

Lets hope he does not run away with it...

    cheers

      THIS IS OT:

I did mention Ducati's success from 2006 onwards. if you remember Sete and Loris were riding. and Ducati's development had reached the Peak. thats how i mentioned Troy's one off appearance in Valencia which he dominated. that year sete's and loris both suffered major injuries. hence, the results were not there.
that is when stoner joined Ducati the following year. also the one major partnership success was Bridgestone tyres. where everybody on Michelin were having problems. (that is why rossi switched to the japanese tyre company)..

Marco had other issues not adapting to the bike. where as alice ducai had issues with development and getting parts from the factory team. ( remember Elias's late charge)

well back to Ben. it was not the pay package. it was lack of seat's available. and the fact that he got offers from 3 teams... (those 3 team's were usually starting races from the back)

        Ducati was always on Bridgestones.
In 2006 Ducati was in the championship hunt with Capirossi but it all fell apart due to an accident in one of the races (dont remember which one) and Caprisossi could not race for a couple of races.

Coming to Melandri he was awesome on the Honda, true he could not adapt to the Ducati well. But the same can be said of all other Ducati riders sans Stoner. There have been a few articles explaining why Stoner is able to extract so much out of his Ducati (something to do with trusting the electronics completely) and others are quite a way behind.

Regarding Spies, well, he was all set for a Suzuki ride in MotoGP and his money demands made Suzuki think otherwise. You can read motogpmatters.com for this.

Can you name those 3 teams, I was under the impression that it was always Suzuki (as a side note, Suzuki appears to be quite strong in the pre-season testing).

        Cheers

Edited: I think even Tech 3 was in the hunt for Ben Spies.

well the SBK is right after the F1 Race in Malaysia. well Race 1 will be the clashing point.
luckily i don't bother with watching F1. just log on for the results after 3 hours post race to watch the results. (cause results don't stand the way you see them finish)

                    Ouch!!

                    Thanks Sams for the calendar.
Fortunately I should be done by 3, so its going to be a heavy motorsports weekend. Wifey's not going to be very pleased !

                    @soul,
I can understand, I used to feel quite the same for many races last year but not this year. It looks like a cracker of a season. I dont want to get started as it'll end up being OT.

                    Cheers

Looks like a good no of SBK followers ! ok lets discuss a few issues !

1.How many of you guys are ok with the new qualifying rules !?

2.And secondly its about YAMAHA ! have u guys noticed for the past 3 - 4 seasons other than the factory Yamaha Italia squad no other Yamaha team does well or not even finish in top ten, while other teams like Honda and Ducati have other private teams doing very well like Sterilgarda ,Stiggy etc..I dont think the riders alone could be an issue here ? or is yamaha reluctant to share its tech with other teams ?
                          BAYLISSTIC !!!!

                              That's Mahindra Forgings Europe AG...

Remember... Mahindra acquired Schoneweiss and Co.. a German Forging Company, and they have a good presence in europe via various acquisitions...

End of the day, they are trying to go global with their SUV's and anything with that name helps build reputation

the Superpole is quite interesting. i have enjoyed watching it.. though i miss the one lap shootout. but then when you have 30+ riders fighting it out.. i think the format just does right.

Yamaha Italia was a private team until this year as far as my knowledge serves me.
