Don't rule out Honda and their riders as mid-pack just yet! The Yamaha and Ducatis have traditionally been strong at Qatar.

And the Hondas are using a new engine, so they are still dialling in the electronics. Coupled to that was a wrong tyre choice by Marquez.

I am sort of taking a middle ground in Honda's performance. Tats why, I used 'right now' and 'can't be ruled out as one off incident'. However, until they set their electronics right, they will be stuck unfortunately in the mid pack.

But, Honda have a brahmastra MM93

Fantastic race ,worth waiting after the delayed start . Zarco looked good till his mistake ,Iannone was agressive as usual on his Suzuki till his mistake ,Dovi continues to come 2nd in Qatar for last 3 seasons while Lorenzo looked like he lacked confidence on his new ride what with slight damp conditions .Vinales rode a nice controlled race after a not too great start making sure he pulled enough of a gap on Dovi's Ducati on the long straight to the finish, looks omnious for the season .Rossi had a good race finishing 3rd from 10th on the grid but has to improve qualifying if he is thinking of the championship. The honda's will come back before the european leg starts i am sure.Good start to the season.
The Honda's dominated the podium in the Moto 3 ,the Ktm & Mahindra's look like they lack top speed on this track specially on the long straights.

good race. i wonder if this year will be half as exciting to watch as last year. 2016 will hard to beat.

zarco. i'm pretty sure everyone on the motoGP grid will have an eye on him for the next few races.

i wouldn't call him losing the front a rookie mistake. that would be taking too much away from a very talented rider.
in the past... rossi, lorenzo, marquez and pedrosa have all lost the front without warning too.

i have no idea how that aprilia managed to to finish the race in 6th. brilliant ride by Aleix Espargaro.

                .
Agree on that, the reason for Zarco losing the front end was stated as braking slightly off the racing line where the grip levels were less specially on the slight damp conditions ,but talented he is for sure and experience will teach him when to push and when to play safe in tricky conditions.

Good to get an insight from a former motogp rider who has ridden with most of these guys. Wonder what his reviews and conclusions were after the race .

Vinales and Marquez fastest with a bunch of satellite Ducatis in the top ten. Big guns like Rossi, Pedrosa, Dovizioso, Lorenzo are not in the top 10!

And it might rain during FP 3, not allowing them to Qualify well either. Crazy!

If it does rain then several crashes expected given the nature of the circuit?

I don't think higher than usual in wet conditions. This year the circuit apparently has much better grip, since the track was cleaner. Track day had been held at the circuit 3 weeks prior. Also Michelin have a year's data and experience.

And the tyre problem was in the dry, due to the very high average speed. The wet doesn't bring that into play. Except if the wet tyres start disintegrating in mixed conditions.

Michelin was to bring a new front tyre with a stiffer carcass for this round. But the tyres got held up at customs (due to a labour strike) and will not be used for the race. Rossi, Marquez and Crutchlow were the riders looking forward to this tyre apparently.

Nice video or Audio i should say!

Woah. What a bunch of races. Triple double dhamaka. All the Qatar winners continue their winning streak and how.

Moto3 saw Mir win the race after starting in 16th place. Moto2 saw Morbidelli win after battling his teammate till the very last lap and Vinales takes the win after Marquez crashed out from the lead. Crazy stuff.

KTM took its first points in MotoGP and first podium in Moto2.

4 factories together scored zero points! Insane. Aprilia had both A. Espargaro crash and Lowes retire with a faulty gearbox. Ducati saw Lorenzo crash in the very first corner of the race and Dovizioso get taken out by Aleix. Suzuki saw Rins crash and retire due to the pain in his ankle, Iannone got a ride through penalty for a jump start. And Repsol Honda saw both its riders lose the front in turn 2, near carbon copy crashes for Pedrosa and Marquez. Marquez now trails Vinales by 37 points in the championship.

What a fantastic day of racing. So many interesting things happened even away from the limelight. Oliveira had another strong showing by taking his first podium, even Binder finished well riding with an injury. Pecco Bagnaia did an awesome job as another rookie in Moto2.

Great rides by Bautista, Zarco and Folger in MotoGP. Zarco was really smoking up his tyres, even Folger was sliding his bike through the corners. Great battle it was for 4th place, before Pedrosa, Dovi and Aleix crashed!
