Maybe he meant generally, coz to be honest Motogp was tending to get boring !! But this year is different. Its turning out to be a cracker of a season !! In fact after 6 races, everything starts anew as the top 3 are equal on points !!Originally posted by sumit.pannalall View PostIf the last motogp race made you sleep then I am wondering which one will keep you awake
I have started to watch WSBK recently ,and frankly I didn't find the racing as close as many pple tout it to be !! I kno some races like Assen were pretty tight, and it is a good entertainment !! But its just my opinion, I find the production value of MotoGP to be of a higher quality than SBK !!
And when MGP does produce a close race, the excitement, energy and buzz is much more than SBK !
Also Ben Spies isnt half the entertainer that Rossi is !! (Its all my humble opinion tho !! )
Trust me buddy, this season has all the ingredients to maybe finally have u a convert !!Originally posted by niks_devil666 View PostAfter reading so much about the race here and on the news , finally watched it and simple loved it ... its definitely worth a watch

this was on the news on the official MGP site guys, it seems Rossi is planning to shift to WSBK after 2010 when his contract ends, apparently he's not too happy with all the cost cutting going on (next year each rider will only be allotted a single race bike).. but then again next year also debuts the MOTO2 category with 600 4-strokes as the stepping stone to MGP which should be fun I guess as 250s dont appear very spectacular on the tracks...more slip n slide is what i like to see
lookin for another corny line ??

You mean, DORNA will publically mention about MOTOGPs biggest start leaving, ....... to their rival series !! That too a year and half in advance so that enuff pple, convert to WSBK by the time the switch happens !! I do not think so .... DORNA is stupid I kno ... but not that stupid !!Originally posted by nitro.1000bhp View Postthis was on the news on the official MGP site guys, it seems Rossi is planning to shift to WSBK after 2010 when his contract ends, apparently he's not too happy with all the cost cutting going on (next year each rider will only be allotted a single race bike).. but then again next year also debuts the MOTO2 category with 600 4-strokes as the stepping stone to MGP which should be fun I guess as 250s dont appear very spectacular on the tracks...more slip n slide is what i like to see
Also, Rossi's plans after 2010 is still up for decision I'd believe !! All depends on how close he is to Agostini's 122 wins !! If he wins 15 odd races in the next one and half years, he might stay back for a year or two !!
Also Doohan was about Rossi's age when he began his five consecutive championships run, so Rossi might still be racing !! Not to mention, the 116 years old capirossi who is still racing !! Kenny Roberts and Troy Bayliss raced till they were 38 or so !!
In further news, Rossi tested the new - "long life" engine this monday and tuesday at catalunya post race tests !! It'd be very interesting to see what approach different teams take, I mean which parts to strenthen, what to change. They will surely have to reduce power, but by how much ????
Which team will get it right, and which won't !!! Remember how Honda and Yamaha totally screwed it, while moving to 800s !!
Yamaha also had trouble in implementing the pnuematic valve engines, and Honda introduced the air-valves even later than Kawasaki, a team that didn't even know how to put a chain properly !

The rule makers shud realise that building and rebuilding engine doesn't cost much, RnD on the engine does !! And such rule changes only make the RnD costs steeper !!Last edited by sukant08; 06-18-2009, 11:41 PM.Kawasaki Ninja : Because lazy sunday afternoons should be despatched at 160 kmph!!!

Well, I frankly dont know what Rossi's plans are, its his wish, but thats what I read in the official site and by God if Rossi says he wants to do something, better be prepared as more often than not he WILL,and to be frank I would love to see Rossi compete in WSBK where the riders are aggressive as hell and the bikes are closely matched ..Which facilitates some close racing action, Moto Gp is more like F1 where the best bike always wins (except for Casey on Ducati which only he can ride and win on) which is kind of boring (this year being an exception). What the hell, Motor sports is in my blood and I would love to watch any sort action on 2 or 4 wheels, on tarmac or sand, I would like to see the best one win a race because of his own skill than because of the vehicle he drove/rode on.Originally posted by sukant08 View PostYou mean, DORNA will publically mention about MOTOGPs biggest start leaving, ....... to their rival series !! Seems like all premiere class race bodies are embracing democracy like never before. F1 split today (was on BBC, this noon). MotoGP, well it neednt split since there are already alternative races, but looks like major shake up is going to happen.
Not sure whether I should support these cost cutting measures are not. Its one thing to say let the best rider/driver win. But what will it do to automobile research in general?
These cost cutting measures I mean.

They had to stop Melandri from going to any rival series by any means !! Also the series was in serious danger of getting delpeted below 18 bikes, which is the number DORNA promised FIM to be there for the races to be deemed a world championship !!Originally posted by soulstation View Post^ +1
and the part about Dorna. i totally agree with you.. Dorna are the reason why Melandri was kept in motogp they did not want to see melandri got to SBK.
we should have a thread for MotoGp/SBK. lets see of the mods agree. its so much more fun reading and arguing.Kawasaki Ninja : Because lazy sunday afternoons should be despatched at 160 kmph!!!
