- What exactly would this mean for the prices of SBKs in India?
- Is this news as good as it sounds with respect to SBK prices in India?
- Would this make it easier for the Japs to import their 600s??
- How would the OTR prices of SBKs be affected?
- Are there any bylaws that would keep the 104% + import duties intact?
I've always had an issue with being willing to pay "Ducati money" for a Busa in India.
This would change it all wouldn't it? or am I getting carried away?

yeah as i was saying the tariff reduction will be distributed over a period of ten years to come down to zero....
now the catch is nobody till now knows what kind of plan will be followed for CBU's and CKD's because if it is reduced just for CKD we can only see some disappointment and only kawa will be benefitted and if it is done for CBU's also, all 4 of them will be benefitted.Timon: Orange Yamaha FZ16 2009

only time will tell

dont know about the <800 c.c.s as they might still have to go for homologation
- How would the OTR prices of SBKs be affected?
the OTR should be reduced depending on the reduction of duty if it is compeletely reduced to zero expect an OTR of 7.5l for the r1, fireblade,
if it is reduced to 10% expec the OTR to be somewhere around 8.3 lacs for R1.
- Are there any bylaws that would keep the 104% + import duties intact?
i dont think there is any

the treaty which is going to be signed is CEPA and not an FTA.
in case of FTA it simply means zero import duty for everyhing
but in case of CEPA they discuss as to which goods will get what amount of duty in the case of imports...
how beneficial is the news to us SBK dreamers only time will tell or if someone has a contact in the fin ministry....Timon: Orange Yamaha FZ16 2009

see basically it means that for SBK attracting a duty of 104% in the year 2010Originally posted by hotshot.vipin View Posti am still not clear abot the over 10 yr thing....searching for more info. on that
2011- the duties will be reduced to 90% of mrp
2012- the duties will be reduced to 80% of mrp
2013- the duties will be reduced to 70% of mrp
2014- the duties will be reduced to 60% of mrp
2015- the duties will be reduced to 50% of mrp
and it goes on till 10 years after which there will be no duties on imported bikes..... hope this is enough..Timon: Orange Yamaha FZ16 2009

i found another article on this which says that in the begining only ckd's wil benefit as cbu's are not going to be included in the agreement at start...only parts import will become cheap thus ckd's will benefit more
