I like the design. Seems to be an alien bike, in a crowd of twin eye setups.. For a similar reason (crowding), I also like the Gixxer's single light setup.Originally posted by nitrosatya View Post

@ jigar2speed,killer_instinct,Samarth 619:
I never did mention that the performance is poor or something like that. Would you like a girl who has 150+ IQ and who is an olympic athlete but has only one eye?
The BMW asymmetrical design philosophy is based on duality. The two sides of existence. I will write about it in my design thread. But i have no time for long posts right now.
Its all about basics of design:Form and Function.
And yes i would love to ride a Beemer!
Cheers!

I gather BMW bikes could be in Navneet showrooms tentatively by around Jan 2011.
The models most probably coming are the S1000RR, R1200GS & the K1300GT. No info on prices.

BMW Motorrad to start motorcycle sales in India by December 2010.
BMW Motorrad to start motorcycle sales in India by December 2010.
Two importers with three sales outlets appointed.
Munich. BMW Motorrad starts its sales activities on the Indian motorcycle market with two official importers as of December 2010. With "Deutsche Motoren" in Delhi in the north of India and "Navnit Motors" in Mumbai on the west coast and Bangalore in the southern part of the country, BMW Motorrad is relying on two experienced BMW Group partners. With these three sales outlets the German motorcycle manufacturer is represented in the strategically important regions.
Hendrik von Kuenheim, General Director BMW Motorrad: "The BMW Group has already established itself very successfully in India with a local BMW automobile production and a sales network for BMW Group automobiles. Now the market for premium motorcycles is beginning to develop, too. The sales activities now commencing with our two experienced BMW Group partners are of long-term significance to BMW Motorrad. We are confident our motorcycles will swiftly become established in timely preparation for the growing market."
As the most innovative manufacturer of large-volume premium motorcycles in the segments enduro, touring, sports touring and sports, BMW Motorrad is opening a new chapter in its successful market strategy by starting sales activities in India. The motorcycles will be produced at the BMW Motorrad plant in Berlin and supplied to India as CBU (completely built up) units.
BMW Motorrad will initially offer the current models of the R and K series as well as the superbike S 1000 RR, i.e. premium vehicles in each of the relevant categories. The BMW motorcycles of the R series such as the legendary enduro bike BMW R 1200 GS enthuse customers with their unique and distinctive boxer engine in particular.
The BMW K models are regarded as the benchmark in the segment of large-volume 4-cylinder motorcycles due to their technological innovations and superior engine output. Both series also offer the very finest quality in chassis technology and an exemplary standard of safety with the BMW Motorrad ABS.
The S 1000 RR, BMWs first superbike, became the most admired sports bike of its class in the motorcycle season 2010.

what they should really get is the F800R and one the S1000RR. The duo and paralever are too bright technologically to have a chance here. Plus they are more of a touring machines.
The F800R is the perfect blend of practicality and fun. Plus it is cheap. By cheap i mean not as expensive and the others. The S1000RR can be the torch bearer in terms of technology.
Common beemer if Ducati can do it so can you.

If the S1000RR, R1200GS & K1300GT is in their indian plans (hoping with some sane pricing), I look at it as follows:
S1000RR- For those that want to really beat the other liter bikes on the race track with the added oooph of a BMW & all its tech gizmos (hope its priced properly).
R1200GS- For those that are seriously willing to ride it at the drop of a hat to far off places in slush & dirt (like Kardungla etc).
K1300GT- For those that would take it out on a 'good weather' sunday for 200-300km ride and return back home by evening. Ocassionally travel to other places...
In the less expensive range, I would think the F800GS would have been a good inclusion for India.Last edited by Haroon; 10-28-2010, 06:36 PM.

You hit the right note as far as I am concerned! I would love to own a 650GS or a F800GS rather than the humongous 1200,which IMHO is too much of a bike for my size!Originally posted by Haroon View PostIn the less expensive range, I would think the F800GS would have been a good inclusion for India.

I would love to see the S1000RR in flesh!
Great news, although neither the power nor the price of S1000RR or any litre class is matching my current situation...
Like someone said, F800GS might be the one to look out for, although it might require homologation if its slightly below 800cc.
But guys, do you think those bikes are worth the price which's "18 Lacs onwards"...?
Atleast that's what Economic Times says, although it might not be the truth..
Source: BMW to launch bikes in India by Dec; price Rs 18 lakh onwards - The Economic Times
NEW DELHI: German auto major BMW today said it will introduce its premium range of motorcycles in the Indian market by December this year, which are likely to be priced from Rs 18 lakh onwards.
" BMW Motorrad starts its sales activities in the Indian motorcycle market with two official importers as of December, 2010," the company said in a statement.
Globally, the firm's motorcycle venture is known as BMW Motorrad and it will initially sell its products at three outlets in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore.
BMW Motorrad's superbikes will be imported into the country by two dealers, Deutsche Motoren and Navnit Motors.
Some of the models that the company is planning to bring into the country include the R 1200 GS, S 1000 RR and bigger K series bikes with 4-cylinder engines.
According to a BMW India spokesperson, the motorcycles could be priced at Rs 18 lakh upwards.
BMW will produce these bikes at its Berlin facility and they will be imported to India as completely built units.
Commenting on the development, BMW Motorrad General Director Hendrik von Kuenheim said: "The BMW Group has already established itself very successfully in India with a local BMW automobile production and a sales network for BMW Group automobiles. Now the market for premium motorcycles is beginning to develop too."
"We are confident our motorcycles will swiftly become established in timely preparation for the growing market," he added.
This is the second time after the mid-90s that BMW has firmed up plans to enter the country's motorcycle segment.
It had earlier planned to enter the Indian two-wheeler market in partnership with Munjals-promoted Hero Motors with the launch of a mid-sized single cylinder motorcycle.
However, despite a positive market study, the project was shelved due to the small size of the Indian market for superbikes at the time.
During recent years, many global manufacturers have come to India with their high-end motorcycles. Ducati, Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha have all launched superbikes, the prices of which run into several lakh rupees.Last edited by Samarth 619; 10-29-2010, 01:08 AM.---

Honestly, 18Lakhs may not be the case but you never know. These bikes are similarly priced to R1 and Hayabusa (for example in UK). And both R1 and Busa are available here (after import taxes and stuff) for 12.5 L Ex showroom. Via CBU route these bikes should not cost more than the price bracket of R1 and Busa.
Only time will tell !!!
