BMW to start motorcycle sales in India by December 2010, to cost 18L & more

    As per one of the bike mags, I read the ex-showroom price of the R1 & CBR is around 14.7 lacks and VFR1200 18 lacs.

    Taking into account BMW's premium position (and the ever volatile Euro!) & all the added tech gizmos, the S1000RR should be priced at 15-16 lac max. The R1200GS at 17-18 lacs and the K1300GT at about 20-21 lacs (all ex-showroom). I hope the warranty is atleast 2 years with option to buy extended warranty. Anyway their regular service interval is every 10,000kms (after the first 1,000kms service).

    I cant guess a price for the F800GS as its a nice bike & though less expensive in the BMW line, its still fairly costly in that segment. At almost 60% of the 800GS price the KLR650 is still a very capable/reliable steed and lot cheaper to fix if you drop it on the rocks!

          Somebody should create a thread on "How to earn enough Money for a BMW Bike"

          Ain't happening on an Indian Salary... and people will say I am not patriotic if I talk about leaving India for the money.

            See guys, now the approximate prices are out too. The actual OTR prices will be above what has been mentionned here.

              Who says leaving your country for better life is wrong. If you can, you should move out. Totally agree with "normal" Indian salary thingy

                the bmw's bike price's is utterly unrealistic when we have gsx-1000r for 12.75lac(ex-shw) cbr1000rr for 12.50lac(ex-shw) and etc... the bmw's price is pure crap so long bmw (dejavu)to fail again in india with this pricin wot happnd to kawasaki bike's they will have a rational pricin

                  Well.. may be due to its cost, I don't feel that much optimistic after seeing this piece of news unlike the way I felt after seeing the Honda CBR250 news....

                      Haroon AFAIK the Ex-Showroom prices for the R1 and CBR is 12.5L and what you have mentioned is the OTR price.

                      But for the enthusiasts sake I hope the beemers do come priced competitively. More people can live their dream, that's a good thing

                          does anyone know s1000rr price in Germany, since the bikes are going to be imported from Germany. I suspect it is cheaper in US, maybe it will give a better idea of the expected prices in India.

                              Most IAS officers I know (definitely not all, my cousin left the IAS coz "there is not enough money" to join the UN) can afford a Bimmer any day... although they would ride it wearing a Balaclava.

                              Why is it so surprising... haven't you heard about the Indian customs charges. I wouldn't blame BMW for the pricing in India.

                                Thats ex-factory and without all of the electronic gizmos. If you add the ongoing insurance cost of ownign a litre class there you wouldnt buy an S1 even if they gave it out to you for half the price.
                                Sometimes I think its cheaper to own a litre class in India than in some other smart coutries :P

                                when i ride bullet before my bullet was solid condition but i once race with a Ceilo car and my engine size. mechancic say bullet is good bike but no racing. it is good for three people and very powerful.
