This government is just focusing on increasing tax rates only. They were consistently introducing new taxes or they were increasing the existing tax rates when crude oil price was declining on regular interval but now due to falling value of rupee or we should say indian economy they are increasing prices twice a month. They should reduce tax rates atleast.

If it's left to Govt. prices won't fall to expected levels. People might have to get on streets to seek any change.

Middle class families will always feel the crunch.
Petrol -> consumed by personal vehicles -> no unions -> tax lynching
Diesel -> commercial vehicles -> unions across nations -> hesitation to lynch

Raw petroleum prices per barrel have gone down* more than 25% since last year yet prices of gases(gasoline/diesel) were increased by nearly 3% y-o-y.

People, if they're smart enough will think twice before how they spend their time(& implicitly money). I've seen most qualified/educated people littering it-campuses with cigerette butts and tea cups, least said the better about helpless kind(who are often mislead and exploited). So, hope is not even an idea as of yet.

Ignorance is bliss, if you can ignore.

Agree to everything except the part that says the economy is falling! Rupee value is falling, yes, but against the dollar. And measuring rupee to get an idea of the status of economy may not entirely be correct! To some extent only... And rite now, its quite paradoxical that the rupee is falling but the economy (stock market, mainly) definitely is not!
And they say the growth rate of our gdp has exceeded china's for the first time. All these are plain statements but is not helping the common man in any way... maybe the results of these facts need time to trickle down to the general population for the rates to be cut... time will tel

The fluctuations in the Petrol prices has made enough news already. However, the stigma surrounding the ill-treatment of public and private vehicles continues to grow. Taxing all moving objects is definitely profitable. Who will want to follow the rules and pay the taxes when there is a loophole that is dug deeper than the oil well itself. Issues and concerns needs to be addressed by the people in power in accordance with the "law" to move things smoothly for the people. In return, all the people should responsibly utilize the natural resource and respect the fact that it's still available.

Petrol was available in city today and will continue to be available tomorrow as long as stocks last. If discussions aren't fruitful, we can see impact on Saturday and Sunday. Monday onwards 9am to 6pm would be the working hours till issue is resolved.

With the new law I believe we will see good changes everyday in petrol and diesel. As I was going through the news from 15 May few cities are going to charge with day to day basic in both the oils. Lets wait and watch on this.
