I too have a 1st generation Fiero(2000) and a '95 Suzuki Shogun.........even now they perform to put some new performance bikes to shame.........they have no radiator nor do they have Fuel injection......they run on carburettors.Their engines have never been touched. The Fiero had some new clutch plates and I took the Shogun apart a few months ago for some performance modifications.

Now both these Bikes are of TVS with Suzuki being the main reason for whatever they were then or they are today.I would never check how Fuel efficient are they still now because they are not the Fuel Efficient ones but they definitely perform in every terrain and their engines comes to booming life in one kick.

But I have heard, that TVS has detoriated from quality levels and service ever since Suzuki left them,so my point is..............who knows whether the Hero motors wont have the same fate a couple of years from now in absence of Honda???

Even then, people likes and buys the RTR series bikes for the race availed R&D and technology that TVS has invested in them.........similarly,the Hero Honda of today who excels in service and resale value might deviate and excel tomorrow as Hero Motors in pathbreaking R&D...who knows[/QUOTE]

i agree with you fully that suzuki was much better in quality terms than tvs as we have the 99 suzuki samurai and still it runs like a dream.
and yes we may see that hero motors may see pathbreaking R&D.
nothing can be said. my raising the point was that i have always seen that whenever any news thread on hero honda is created it soon changes into hero honda bashing thread. everybody is bashing hero honda as if it is the worst company. Why not think something positive.
regarding reliability see my previous thread how much my bike has run.

      3.Escorts Yamaha- Rajdoot(175cc),RX135(135cc)
and many other models...........only that they were all 2-strokes and Hero Honda never ever delivered a 2T to the best of my knowledge.

Also,Royal Enfield employed 350cc 4T engines on their bikes even before Hero Honda released their Sleek

Hero Honda CBZ did rise the benchmark being the 1st 4 stroke 150cc engine in India, but the 100cc barrier had been breached by multiple companies before.
Agreed, I should have said, HH created the market for 150cc

the diesel bullets are still in existence ! I found them in Gujarat when i was coming back to Vadodara from Rajkot ! They are used as 'share rickshaws' and small transport vehicles. They are used as a three-wheeled vehicle with the front half of the bullet being retained, albeit with a higher ground clearance. I couldn't get a pic though.

          Altius Automotive Technologies

In all probability Altius Automotive Technologies will be providing the diesel engine. RE is after them and then so is Hero. If my guess is correct Hero will launch the Altius Scimitar just as it is with a different sticker just like Impulse. Mean while RE is after the motor.

hope HERO makes somthing out good ..... not some xerox of other bike model
well if its borrowing the POWERPLANT from someone its ok but it must be a good bike overall
A 400 cc diesel powerplant will most probably suit a good cruiser like said by others ... india is getting in new models in all ways like street naked ,sports , supersports , etc etc
A GOOD cruiser will help a lot in market especially a good competition to RE ( no offence i myself love RE but maintainance .. uhhh i am lazy soo... )
