Don;t believe anyone till the official prices are out.

    1. there won;t be any price cuts for GT650R
    2. There won;t be any price cuts for N250R
    3. There is no RIP for GT650R [there are plenty of ppl are still ready to buy even N650 price much below it]
    4. there is no RIP for N250R [there are too many who like to own 250 than 650]
    5. the N650 snatching of customers will be barely 5-10% from GT650R
    6. both will sell and both comp will do good business.
    7. GT650 will be a easy to maintain and economical bike .... and N650 will be premium and expensive bike in terms of maintainance [akin to CBR vs Ninja]

so relax ... don;t see that facts from ur own versions .. see it in broader version ...

bottomline is : if a certain characteristics are the criteria..then Ferrri, Austin martin, BMW all these sports cars doesn;t exists ... only one of them might have been the survivor

    Hi Saurav.
It would be nice if the pricing of ex-showroom is stated as above.
But we also need to keep in mind that these prices are not certain and the biker should wait on the officail confirmation by Bajaj PBK.
When the GT650R too was being launched a video review by our own xBhp staff members was done, which stated that the GT would be priced under 5Lacs on-road.But when the official prices were announced from Garware motors the on-road prices were around 5.5Lacs

    Agreed...

    1. I do not doubt the INTENT for which motorcycles are designed and hence categorized.

    2. But then "desi" bikers usually narrow down the term "Sports" Bike with ones that have a full fairing (Clip ons or Split Seats etc) which is a very short sighted approach

I do not think that there is an accepted category called "Moto".

According to what I know the term "Moto" in "Motocross" comes from "Motorcycle + Cross Country".. in which motorcycles were originally raced on off road tracks in (European) country sides.

Supermoto bikes have originally evolved out of a Sport called "SuperMoto" in which Off Road motorcycles are fitted with Slick Road Tyres and raced on a race track comprising of 80% tarmac and 20% slight off road portion.

    Q. What exactly makes a Bike wear that moniker called: "Sports"?

    Q. Shouldn't "motocross" bikes which are made only for the "Motocross" competition deserve to be called as "Sports" Bikes?

    Q. Should heavy/bulky bikes like the Honda VFR1200, Yamaha XJR 1300 be called as "Sports" Tourers as their designed for highway touring and NOT for any competitive "Sports".

"Sports" as it seems has broad meaning.

    To me:

    1. "Sports" means "Fun".

    2. Not every bike needs to be a Race Track tool /Super Sports replica to be called a "Sports" Bike.

    3. Not every bike needs "Split Seats", "Clip ons", "Full fairing' to be called a "Sports" Bike

Disagreed. I know a certain someone who "toured" the whole of India with his wife on a M80. Would that make the M80 a tourer because someone used it for that?
I know a handfull who tour on RTR, does that make it a touring bike? NO! It ATBEST makes it a 'touring' bike for them!

Sports - Bike : A bike used for the 'sports riding', typically on tarmac. Defined due to a variety of features. Some of them is the stance, the parts that provide it its agility and the performance at the engine AND on the braking.

MotoCross Bike DOES belong to a sports category. The category is better labelled as "Moto" or SuperMoto (Where Super uses almost the same logic as in a "Super" Bike

Then there are machines which are DESIGNED with the intention to be used in a dual form. Thus comes Sports+Touring, Sports+Street, Street+Moto

Cycling is ALSO a sport, but its not a Sports-Bike!

I am not too sure of the 650R's "on track" capabilities. There would be people who ride this machine on the track and they might be good at it; but I feel that this is not a machine for the track. The 250R on the other hand is just right for the track; for people who want a machine for the track, this is it.
More than that, some of the people who bought the 250R stretched out their 1.5L budget to buy the Ninja. That particular audience may not stretch it out further.
I feel that the real tourers who buy this machine will love it for the stability, robustness, flexibility and speed. That plus, people who buy larger machines and prefer mid-category machines as their second choice, would love to have this Ninja parked in their garages
Nailed it! YOU my friend should write MORE often!

    Ninja 250R RIP? GT650R RIP - I agree fully.

Ninja 250R and 650R are different bikes and priced differently. The price on road for a 650R will be around 5L (or more) and the 250R is around 3L on road. Do you think everyone who is in the market for a 250R will pay 2L more for a 650R?

    Oh i get it:

    250 cc : 3L

    650 cc - 5L

But why stop there? you can get an 883 cc for 7 or 8 lacs na? from Harley Davidson.
Well! I respect your views, but I find the N650R to be more VFM, compared to the N250R and the other big bikes that are on sale at present. Lets not bring in HD into picture, at least I dont look at them in the same way as the kawasaki and other japanese bike makers.

If the 650 is priced 4.5 lakh ex showroom, I expect kawa to slash the price of the N250R (a wish).

Very soon the amateur blogs will carry the "breaking" news about the 4.5 lakhs price tag.. without any link to the original source.

Deja Vu of the 1.5 lakhs price tag rumour for the Ninja 250R..??

I dont think a bike like zx6r makes sense in India. But with news about the R6's and gixxers coming in (read somewhere dont remember where) so who knows!
Well, their sentence was "..around Rs. 4.5 Lacs". But they still seemed pretty confident, because they said its priced below the GT, which is 4.69.

As for the ZX 6R, even I was complaining about its impracticality all these recent years.
But even I can't disagree, that it has a tremendous fan following...
Those racers down south, racing in the 600cc Class, might also need some really "legal" and "serviceable" alternative, once and for all.
It will sell and I stress that it will surely cripple the Litre class bikes, if not kill it.
