Imagine people buying the Ninja 650 in an impulse and realising that it is not a proper 'Dhoom' bike. [not saying that the Hyosung is]

It would be great to know their reactions.

I see, Thanks. We know GT is detuned. But, is the Indian Ninja 650R detuned?

If so, any idea how much power it makes? You did say it seems faster than GT 650R, which means more than 70 bhp on crank, is it?

@ Praful: Let's hope that does the job. Yes, it has downloadable maps each specific for exhausts, etc.

Well thankfully there are ways and means to get around that. One can always go Power Commander

One more thing, can you please tell me how exactly are both these machines detuned?
I'm asking because, if they detune only by putting a more (noise+pollution) restrictive exhaust than the one abroad, its a good thing because we can get an Akrapovics or TwoBrothers full exhaust system to solve the detuning and get even more power than stock.
So, what exactly is this "detuning", in case of GT and in case of N650?

(I do hope the "detuning" is not some re-mapping, compression ratio decrease or Fi adjustment, or things we could never sort out.)

@ SatyenPoojary: I guess Tenhut is more used to the Supersports bikes or Superbikes, that's why its obvious he doesn't like Ninja 650's braking. It's very obvious that the Ninja 650 won't match the supersports in braking and some other aspects too.

A friend owning Karizma criticizes my P180 UG3's braking by saying, "it sucks!"

No GT for me... I would rather wait and buy the HyperMotard... (Or the iron883!)

The GT makes sense if is a pulsar cheaper than the 650... They'd probably value you more than IKLM... So may be you could expect a princely treatment till the company lasts :P
And ofcourse you can ship stuff from hyosungsource if garware tries to fleece you :P

For records: I totally loved the N650R more than the inline four counterpart that *cough* Bike India claims *cough* were tested
Its a very apt bike for Indian conditions, enough useable power for touring conditions, good braking (which tenhut didn't like for somereason though!) And the best part is the stance which is so much more practical for long rides!
This and the KTMXXX in the Garage and am happy for half a decade may be!

I still repeat, competition is a small car! (And there's many now in this range!)
Yay welcome back... Should have told me about the nudges earlier... Would have literally shoved you if that was requires...

I thought you were sold for the Hyosung too... I for one am seriously confused between the 2 now (budget permitting)... Heart says Hyosung mind and practicality screams out N650... grrrr

Last night while passing near the PBK showroom next to Ruby hall clinic in Pune, I saw the N650 being ridden by one guy and 2 guys waiting outside the showroom to get it inside. It was the same green one. Not sure if it was the same one that I'd spotted on the highway..

Today morning I went to the showroom to ask about the bike. The guy at the desk tells me there's some time for the launch. I ask him about the pricing. Again no answers. Then I tell him that I saw the bike last night and I have seen it on the highway some weeks back. The guy is like " We haven't got any bike". I told him that I saw the bike last night and thought it may be a display bike. Hence I came to check it out. He's like we don't know about it (with a slight smile). Guess they are keeping it all top secret till the launch.

Or like for GSFerraris sensational nudge that brought up the teaser site in weeks after a lul for about a year since 'testing'

Me happy!!! 8th June, with a good finance scheme and a good pricing (5L'ish-OTR) and my cheque is ready

The same that would happen to all the Bajaj scooters that had their exhaust below the floor of the chassis. AFAIK, the positive pressure in the exhaust pipe due to the gases is sufficient to prevent the water from being drawn in. However, if you go through water and drop the revs, water will enter the silencer damaging the catalytic converter. So while going through the water, drop a gear and keep the revs up.
