Fake Vespas seized at EICMA 2013
Chinese imitations of consumer products is not new. It is now learnt that Piaggio was in for a rude shock when Chinese manufacturers displayed imitations of its premium Vespa scooters at the recently concluded EICMA 2013.
11 scooters being displayed by seven Chinese exhibitors were seized by the Mobile Unit of the Rho division of the Guardia di Finanza which is the financial law enforcement arm of the Italian military police. The vehicles that were seized had breached the exclusive right constituted by the three-dimensional trademark registered by Piaggio. It protects the characteristic shape of the Vespa and the design of the global and iconic scooter.

The fake Vespas being confiscated at EICMA
The Vespa is a premium scooter and is available in the Indian market. There are two models here- the Vespa and the Vespa VX. The VX was launched earlier this year in July and is the pricier model of the two. Both the scooters are powered by a 3-valve single-cylinder four-stroke engine that generates 10PS of power and 10.06Nm of peak torque. A disc brake, modified speedometer, new pillion grab rail, beige seat cover and tubeless tyres were added features to the VX. It was launched at a price tag of Rs 71,380 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
More recently, at the EICMA, Vespa drew the covers off the new Primavera, which could replace the LX lineup. It shares the base powertrain with the LX series, with a few tweaks, but uses sharp new styling and a reworked frame to make the scooter more stylish. Vespa says there will be 125cc and 150cc 3-valve SOHC fuel-injected engines – based on the LX engines – in the Primavera. The engines have a new crankshaft, roller-rockers and a new bore and stroke to ensure better torque. The spark plug position in the combustion chamber has also been altered in the interest of economy, performance as well as improved cooling and easier maintenance. The new engine is lighter than before.

Motorcycle Gloves with inbuilt Bluetooth: xBhp News
BearTek a company which specializes in making luxury gloves for motorcycling and other extreme sports, recently revealed a pair of gloves that has built in Bluetooth to operate your GoPro Camera, Mobiles and most other electronic devices.
The Gloves have a built in bluetooth system which allows you to operate your electronic devices without having to take the device out or even taking your gloves off.
The innovative design relieves the issue outdoor enthusiasts have suffered from of stopping, taking out their mobile device and removing their gloves to answer a call, change a playlist or operate their GoPro camera. BearTek Gloves operate by tapping thumb to various finger touchpads embedded along the sides of the fingers to send a signal to the media device that is safely tucked away.

Re: Yamaha MT Launch - The Darkside of Japan
Finally, An Actual Innovation In Helmet Technology Motorcycle crash helmets have essentially been the same old thing since they were invented 60+ years ago - an energy absorbing chunk of styrofoam glued into a hard outer shell. Sure, some have better graphics or neato vents or whatever, but that's the basic technology. Now, a tiny company in California is bringing actual technical innovation to that formula, all in the name of reducing concussions that result from low-speed impacts.

That styrofoam and shell formula is actually really good at dealing with large impacts. The density of the styrofoam (or "EPS" as people with a vested interest in making this stuff sound expensive call it) can be varied with great specificity, allowing controlled deceleration of the head. What it's not terribly good at is reducing shocks from low-speed impacts.
If you recall the Del Rosario helmet concept (still in progress), it addressed the absorption of low-speed energy with gel inserts between its carbon arches and the shell. This new 6D helmet does something similar, affixing gel between the two layers of styrofoam. It locates that gel between two discs (one on each layer of EPS) that move in six different direction, hence the "6D."
We asked John Del Rosario to take a look at the 6D design for us. "This is actually pretty neat, separating the high & low impacts is the key," he says. "Gel-type material affixed between two plates is what gives it the multidirectional and damping qualities, I'd say it should fit in great in motocross because of the lower speed type of impacts."
Traditional Snell and ECE-rated helmets work well in impacts above 9mph, but struggle to provide energy absorption at lower speeds. At 9mph, that force can be up to 120g, double the threshold at which concussions begin to occur.
The gel dampers in the 6D helmet are designed to provide that low-speed protection, while traditional styrofoam remains to deal with faster hits.
At 4.5mph, the 6D transfers 49g of force to the riders' head. An ECE helmet will transfer 79g at the same speed.

Here, you can see the gel dampers located between the two layers of EPS and the gap that doubles as extra ventilation.
Such low speeds may sound a bit silly, but most accidents on motocross tracks or while riding off-road simply involve falling to the ground. The quoted speeds above aren't how fast you're riding, they're the speed at which your helmet collides with something.
Other innovations should help boost safety a little bit too. There's cutaways in the shell where the helmet would meet the clavicle in an impact, designed to reduce collar bone breaks and there's padding on the chin designed to absorb energy from either face plants or the helmet ramming into the sternum. As with many other helmets sporting a dirt peak, the screws are designed to shear away on impact, preventing forced rotation of the head. The gap between the two layers of styrofoam made necessary by the gel dampers is also used to flow extra air.
6D claims there's not a substantial increase in weight compared to traditional helmets, but we'd worry a bit about additional bulk. The outer circumference of the helmet may need to be larger to accomodate that new found gap between EPS layers.
Sales of the ATR-1 motocross helmet are slated to begin in February, 2013, no price has yet been announced, but the general consensus seems to be that the 6D will be one of the pricier motocross lids on the market. A street version dubbed the ATS-1 is also under development.

I always think point does it makes if any new brands gets launched here in India and don't get a proper SVC availability through in India ??
For any service or repair need to travel almost 60- 100 kms !!
Buying a bike for Rs 2-3L or more is not a big deal. There are plenty buyers in India.
But only thing that stops from buying is the SVC distance.
I still remember there was a member here who use to travel some 200kms+ for timely service of his Duke/Ninja one of these model.
He was from south.
I feel to buy HD or Hyosung cruisers but HD SVC is some 60 kms odd away and 30 kms odd away to Hyosung, one way.
So I am little back thinking this.
But surely thinking on when some SVC comes near by.

Triumph Confirms 250cc Motorcycle is Coming for 2015

At Triumph’s EICMA press presentation today, the British brand confirmed that it would have a small-displacement world market bike for the 2015 model year.
Showing a very sporty concept sketch of the machine, Triumph also confirmed that the model would have a single-cylinder engine, be 250cc in displacement, and be manufactured at the company’s new India facility.
The news confirms one of the worst-kept secrets in the industry, and puts Triumph in line with a slew of other brands (Honda, Kawasaki, & KTM to name a few) who are realizing that they need to adapt their model lineup to meet the global demand for motorcycles.
With Triumph recently investing in its manufacturing ability in Brazil and India, the new model will be the first motorcycle built with emerging markets in mind.
No word yet whether the machine will make it into European or American markets, but the idea of a 250cc thumper that looks like a Daytona is certainly appealing to our ears. 2015 can’t come soon enough.

Re: Yamaha MT Launch - The Darkside of Japan
i wish they would relaunch the mt01 it was a beast and a practical bikeOriginally posted by NewsReaper View PostYamaha Europe has shown this Video, with tempting people for a MT Launch on the 4th of November.
Currently there are two models in the series, the 660cc single-cylinder MT-03 and the recently-launched MT-09, an 847cc triple. Until 2010 there was also the MT-01, a 1670cc V-twin.
What the next MT could be is unclear but an MT-07 is not unlikely. Yamaha trademarked the names 'MT-09' and 'MT-07' at the same time.
One possibility is it will have a 675cc triple engine which Yamaha is believed to be developing. The other perhaps more likely possibility is it will use the new parallel twin 'crossplane' engine shown in Japan earlier this year. There's no word yet on the capacity of that engine, but it’s probably around the 500-700cc mark.
The video itself is even less informative, showing us a musical box made from motorcycle parts with a rotating rider in black leather and, oddly, tights, like a kind of S&M Stig.
Yamaha’s message says: ‘Just over the horizon there's a new kind of 2-wheeled animal heading this way. It's provocative. It's naked. And it's agile.
‘The Dark Side of Japan is about to deliver another rude awakening to the streets of Europe.
‘And resistance to this unstoppable force is impossible.
‘Now, more than ever, sleeping bikers have a reason to rise up and ride.’
The new model will be unveiled on November 4 at Milan’s EICMA bike show .
