Every car and bike has a Airbox which protects the air filter from "larger impurities" like sand and rain water. Of course, the Airfilter does the micro filtering of dust, smoke, etc.
This is a air box from Apache RTR Fi which feeds fresh clean air to the carburettor:
Your piston goes kaput in 1-2 years, if you remove the airbox and fix the filter like many bikers have done before. This is dangerous:
Putting the filter without Airbox puts a lot of dirt and sand on it, which the airbox would have avoided.
Earlier we had no choice, as the suitable performance air filters by K&N came in conical shape... But now, we can fit it into our Airbox, so this rectangular K&N Filter is good news!
Conclusion: Just get the K&N BA2201 filter into your Pulsar's stock Airbox, no problems should happen. Don't wash it, don't clean it using compressed air at service station, just oil it regularly and you're done.

@ princesirohi and Mohit: Guys, I perceive that at different rpm's, different amount of air is sucked in the carb, depending on throttle. So, the upper limit of the air passage matters in any air filter.
Even when I had K&N, it didn't howl and perform right from 2000 rpm. Only when it was pushed, it sucked in more air on giving throttle, where a stock filter would be under stress.
So, it is possible that it might not require rejetting. This page mentions that a stock bike need not be rejetted:

If it sounds and performs like stock... What use is the filter itself and why does it cost 30 times more? I know there is a million mile warranty on all K&N filters, but stock filter wont cost me this much. Even if I throw out the existing sponge every 10k km still, the same money will give me air filters till my bike is 3 lac km
old!!! I am pretty sure nobody in the 10 year History of pulsars has crossed that no. as of now.
Personal opinion.. I am not impressed. Will wait for reviews though.Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

k&n air filter is a good quality filter which last 10 times more than stock air filter, it doesn't increase power, upjeting can be done with ur stock air filter too and change exhaust to ffe and spark plug for more power, nothing more nothing less...

k&n air filter won't increase bhp, to compare between k&n and stock filter is like BMW and tata nano. its simple, k&n air filter is good quality filter,Originally posted by antz.bin View PostIf it sounds and performs like stock...
