  • even though the pulsars and the duke is having the same crank case and the same platform the main point that need to be stressed is that the difference could be in the head and its having the bajaj dtsi sohc head as all of you might be already knowing...so there could be more refinement than the current models ...that is for sure but i dont think it'll be having refinement levels the ktm s as its got a more advance dohc setup...but then again i could be wrong...anyway we definitely say its got ExhausTEC...as i am able to see the exhaust chamber...at the front of the engine...
ps. mods, if i have by chance posted anything wrong or any matter or in any style which you think are against the forum rules, i apologize for the mistake as i am new to xbhp and i am not that much familiar with rules and regulations regarding posting of the matter...i would be glad if you guys could help me with instructions step by step...
    thank you

    • Posting here finally!

So the new Pulsar will be out. Designed by the designer from BMW Motorrad. He was in BMW for 20 years. And perhaps has overseen all the new Beemers being developed.
The new Pulsar is a big leap from the old flat tank designs. They took all the feedback from enthusiastic riders. The result is the new downforce style Pulsar. Front flanks extending like the new CB1000R and the Kawa Z1000. The tank is huge!! This was the factor people went for the original 150cc muscle bike. Remember when we first saw the very first Pulsar. Tight proportions. Big tank, low headlight. They seem to repeat the same proportion treatment.

As it is based on the KTM Duke 200:
It makes sense to put the same trellis frame rather than make a new frame,
It makes sense to keep the capacity at 200cc,
it makes sense to make a cheaper alternative to KTM Duke 200 in the form of Pulsar 200.

As I could not resist the design proportions, I have done some sketching on top of the scoop pics. You can clearly see the huge proportion of the bike. Look at the tank! The side flanks extending well below the seat! Some feature line showing trhough the leather covers. A side rake like the Triumph Sprint? We can also make out the trellis frame in the pics. Distinct tubing is visible!

Do check out the pics attached!
      Cheers!

          • @ antz.bin: Yeah bro, I will... Let it release.

            Ouch! That tank shape...!
In case of an accident/ emergency stop, it will hurt where it hurts the most. Will they have crotch guards/ pillows too?

            • Today heard in a ZEE business show that the NEW PULSAR range is to be launched within this month however no BAJAJ branding will be there & IT will be totally new in the pulsar range. The engine will be refined & the technology will be far improved. But sadly no specifications were there. So maniacs keep your fingers crossed.

Yes, the most striking feature of this bike will be the tank! They want to beat FZ16. You wanted muscle, you got muscle!
The front 3/4th view of this bike will be the best. It will resemble a Kawasaki Z1000 with it's big side scoops or flanks. The bike appears to be little bit tall. Swinging a leg over the seat might be little difficult.

@Kapil54: Do you have contacts with Bajaj? How did you get this close to the bikes?

                    • tank design

I know this is very much off-topic and many pulsar fans can take it as offense but could not resist myself from posting.

Are pulsar petrol tanks designed and tested by Girls ? Many of my friends have pulsars and they all complain their family jewels being crushed between body and tank in case of hard breaking or minor accident.

you wrong ... Gen 1 pulsars had tanks which are not proportional to the overall bike and seating position, this new one had perfectly kept proportional to the seat and its seating height , its ur tummy or i say abs which will be resting on tanks and all force will taken by it .. not the Jewels , this is how most modren bikes designed

On a personal note, me being a propspective KTM 200 customer, I am kinda dissappointed coz the engine design looks exactly like the KTM 200.
dude its not KTM 200.. KTM 200 and 125 are naked bikes and the one in pic does in no way meet that criterion... Bajaj had promised a all new engined better than DTS-i and this could be very well Pulsar 125cc.. which will mean 135 will become a legend so it will ne 125 150 180 (200 if they are planning with KTM 200 engine) 220 (may be there or retired if 200 re-launched)

                              • i for one wish the new pulsar not be a pulsar125 and replace the existing pulsar135,but instead be an all new 2012 pulsar 135 based on the duke 125 engine (+10cc only needed)and similarly, it would be good if bajaj launches an all new 2012 pulsar 220 based on the duke 200's engine (+ 20cc only needed)instead of relaunching an all new pulsar 200. This way the same product line up could be followed and this way the pulsar line up will become even more established and all the confusions in people's mind would be gone and there by helping the brand (pulsar) to acquire a more stabilized image from the eyes of an average man as well as niche customers and also help pulsars not loose its resale value...its a bit of a crazy theory considering the fact that my knowledge regarding resale and all other related resale market stuff is limited...its just my opinion...
