  • Well people are forgetting that R15 takes ages to reach its top speed thanks to it's tall gearing. Duke on the other hand gets there in jiffy because of short gearing.
Secondly as Rev limiter is set at 11.5k on production duke (@vrugonnab not at 11k), the top speed should be between 157-160 KPH.

Both bikes are great in their own category.

Anyway, Why bajaj isn't marketing this bike?

Good point! I believe 2000 bikes have rolled out of the assembly line and there seems to be an order across India - close to that number. I am assuming, marketing will start in a big way. But then - how much was Ninja marketed?

        • ^^ +1 to that, I really think that's a bit too much.

@lockhort999, @11.5k sounds even better, personally I don't care if it touches 150kmph or not, I might never touch that speed, but in 6th gear if i'm able to go from 40, 50kmph to 120kmph within no time, that's something that matters a lot if you are on highways and that's where R15 needs some stick to make it go from 40kmph to 120kmph, without gear changes is out of question (I think so?).

Don't forget about city riding, R15 can manage next to nothing if compared to Duke 200, that's why I said there is no point comparing R15 to Duke 200.

Don't worry Shubz sir, you can take sweet revenge by posting a delicious first ride report as soon as you get your hands on Duke 200

Exactly my thoughts man! This is what I need too. I have seen very few roads where we can reach 140+ speeds safely or cruise at 100+kmph. A combo of good acceleration, breaking and riding comfort is enough.

I prefer heading to hill stations like Ooty or Kodaikanal on my Duke, I believe we can make the best of this bike at the Hair pins which these hills have to offer, the joy s i can imagine it will b incredible...

I ws blown away by the short wheel based rather less powerful Apache160 on those roads and its only goin to get better with the DUKE...

                      • Cant understand the fuss about cribbing for mileage in duke200 when it is in performance bike category.

Also its still better than driving a car solo and getting a mileage of 12kmpl. When i am alone ,
i dont prefer to drive a car and add up to the existing traffic already
I prefer riding a slow bike fast rather than a fast bike slow !!

                        • Tyres

Now the tyres on the Duke 200 as seen on the display bike seemed to be very Slick, Treds on it were merely visible, hows tat goin to affect our daily ride, The store guys said we are going to have the same kind of wheels Any inputs on this?...

                                I just can't wait now!!
When life gives you Yamaha, make it RD350 not R15. :D
