All those who are saying it's priced too high, lacks features are basically missing the point that it's squarely aimed at female buyers looking for something different and they are least bothered about features. I'm sure most of the female buyers won't even blink before spending the money on this cute little retro scoot. In most cases, I believe they won't be paying the money

Partially True, Take this as ex. Have you ever thought of how Bose Audio is surviving in India offering only the luxury premium products even though better products are available in all common brands like Philips, LG, Samsung etc. at a nominal cost but whereas Bose 2.0 starts at 20k?? It's because Life Style products will have their own set of people trading them & in that case either Bose or Vespa will not be worried about their mass market share with Activa's & Swish'es.Originally posted by 111diablo111 View Posteven though this looks nice but most people will go for Activa/Dio instead of this..price difference is to much to ignore..its OTR price will be in between 72k-75k

Piaggio is no Bose by any manner. They are just a scooter making company. A retro one. What Bose is to music system that may be held by BMW or Aprilia in bikes not Piaggio definitely. This company is being just too much exhagerrated just because they super overpriced their products. And they are right infact since many people find pricing synonymous to brand. But I have a different opinion here. Hope after sales fall apart they would themselves reduce prices by 10-12K.Originally posted by dual disc 200 View PostPartially True, Take this as ex. ^^ Well Vespa certainly is a Bose to scooters, i'm sure they will establish themselves as a luxury player, simply because no one is catering to premium scooter segment at the moment. Vespa spotted the opportunity and for sure they will be successful with this cute scoot!Let's bring down the monster of corruption to it's knees.. please visit http://ipaidabribe.com/

Aprilia is a sub-brand of Piaggio. A little ground work before posting would be much appreciated.Originally posted by Enthusiastic View PostPiaggio is no Bose by any manner. I have my ground up pretty well sir I hope the same for you. Aprilia is a premium brand owned by Piaggio. Similar is the case of Bajaj owning (half) the KTM premium brand so does that make Bajaj a premium brand like KTM? No. So ofcourse that does not by any way make Piaggio a premium brand like Aprilia. They are just a retro scooter making company not a premium only sports & superbike making big brand like Aprilia. I am very good in my brand knowledge if anyone doubts that.

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

@Enthusiatic With all due respect my point was not to question your Brand knowledge. Piaggio is a company that owns both Vespa and Aprilia. They both are rich in history and heritage though they cater to different segments. Vespa commands a premium for the history that it brings in its current products. It may not be right to compare Vespa with Aprilia though what both these brands do is make Piaggio diversify its products. Similarly KTM does the same to Bajaj like what Audi brings to VW.Originally posted by antz.bin View PostAnd Ferrari is a Sub Brand of the company who made this:
Coming back to the topic, Vespa seems to be commanding a premium for the product for the mixture for retro styling with a touch of modern technology, brand name and heritage. I am sure there is a market in India for a product like this.
Again its completely my opinion and people may differ to this.Imperfect human knowledge may be a bumpy, pot-holed street but its the only road to wisdom worth taking . . .

Checked the scooter out today.
The scooter looks good, the feel of the switchgear was a little odd, I doubt it will last the distance. The scooter has DC lighting which is good, you can directly switch on the headlight without starting the scooter, I hope the target audience[read females] realize the drawbacks of running the headlight without starting the scooter. I also wasnt happy with some of the plastic stuff under the seat, doesn't look sturdy.
Finally the price on road BLR 80,525 Rs
. I expected it to be priced somewhere around 75K, but 80K is just too much, the suzuki access and honda activa on the other hand are priced around 55K on road. So vespa is expecting customers to pay 25K premium for this, I wouldn't, let us see what our people say.
