This one may be way overpriced but they are flying off the shop floors!
At least for my home city vespas have become the latest in thing for college going chicks and dudes and they just cant seem to have enough of these! The exuberant price plus the retro style has become a way for these kids to help them stand out from the current stock of omnipresent activas, deos and accesses.
May be over priced style over substance and functionality is the way forward in this young demography?
??
When in doubt...... Gas it!

Your comment here could spark a war between ifans and droidsOriginally posted by southpaw View PostWhy do you think Apple sells so many horribly overpriced iPods and iPhones worldwide?

Totally agree on the vespa , now my wife wants one.
I keep telling her the bikes are machines and the word "cute" is not a criteria for buying one.
Phew!!You can only go as fast as you can brake!

I'm sure you know that one can never win an argument/debate with a woman! especially if that woman happens to be your better-halfOriginally posted by projectile View PostYour comment here could spark a war between ifans and droids

Phew!!
Vespa spotted an opportunity for a premium tag scooter and rightly so!! no one is catering to people in this category so far.. i'm sure Vespa is going to make their mark pretty soon, they just need more models.
Just to make a point, cuteness of a design definitely weighs on purchase, how many would've bought KTM Duke 200 if it were to look like Mahindra Mojo?? I know Duke can't be termed as cute, but it's design is a very radical one contributing to it's success.Last edited by vrugonnab; 05-18-2012, 12:59 AM.Let's bring down the monster of corruption to it's knees.. please visit http://ipaidabribe.com/

i saw the scooter and really liked the looks and the engine sounds very refined too....
i was planning for Honda activa but after seeing the scooter i don't feel like buying activa....
i know this vespa scooter is way over priced but i don't know how would i feel if i bought an activa and saw one vespa owner riding it.
am pretty confused. not doubt the moolah is too high for the features it provides but there is something called heart which is never reasonable
should i consider it as one time investment cuz am a guy who never sells his vehicles or even discard them. i still have my hero ranger ( India's first atb cycle) which was presented to me by my papa when i was in fourth class. i still use my 98 kinectic Honda n i am in love with that too
those two are my priced possessions now
but this scooter seems way too overpriced and my sister too likes the scooter.
should i just consider it as a one time investment ....
i don't even know the on road price including registration in hyderabad.
maybe the price quotation of the scooter will help me kill my heart... hehe.
going to visit the showroom in a few hours to get the price quotation...
i just hope the quotation and a test ride will help me move away from this scooter once and for all.
has anyone test rode it yet?

80 k :0
but i was moon while test riding it...
never felt the engine lugging even when there was a pillion rider!
performance of a decent 125cc bike and simplicity of a gearless scooter makes it a very comfortable ride in a city....
now the negatives....
the plastic is cheap!!
the plastic material on the handle doesn't even look that it fits properly....!! looks as if someone has misfit it with a wrong size...
maybe the test bike took a fall dunno... would be nice if anyone can confirm this....
the base cover of the mirror is made of rubber... it can tear easily and what i suspect is it is hard to get it replaced...!
the salesperson has told me that the engine is being imported from Italy and after three months it will be made in baramati plant...
no doubt it just performs so good...
over all
engine = 9.5/10
looks = 9/10
plastic quality = 6/10
i felt it is about 10k more....
still not able to make up my mind
what you guys suggest me.... i am not an attention hogger at all but i liked the retro looks and the way it performs...
if i decide to buy one then most probably will go for the dark chocolate brown color.... something similar to the wego brown color..
the showroom i visited was in jubilee hills (near ibp petrol station n croma ), hyderabad.
oh btw 2 week waiting period!!!!
even if you pay the money all at once...

I simplify my opinion!
I despise the fact that people are ready to buy premium product for sole purpose of making a statement about their Pitashree's bank balance rather then any other reason.
Even looks don't matter to most these kids! It's just that word on the street is that it'll help them stand out of the crowd and earn some "street cred" is enough to buy them.
The concept is, when I personally think that some thing looks good, it is not a bad reason to buy a premium product but, when I think that people will think I am cool because I brought some thing that is good looking and overpriced in a way most will not be able to afford it, technically I am being a COCK! (aka poser??)
Hope I simplify my opinion!
The reason to hate this trend is simple. It just ups the ante for other brain dead kids!
@murlidhar: The scooter is good though overpriced. If this scooter is what you want to buy, please get it sooner then later as when the mass production starts the quality usually (i am saying usually, not always) declines.
P. S. : Triumph 675r vs MV Agusta f3, I pick f3 in a heart beat!
