Introductory prices should not be considered, only stable prices should be considered. i may launch a product in market at a reduced introductory price and one month later increase it price. so ultimately 90% of buyers will not buy at introductory prices and it is always better to let the first batch pass, then purchase.

Duke 200 wont cost anything more than 2L. So yes, it is less than half the price. Hyosung or Kawasaki 650 could be had for just a slightly more and its more powerful and better packed. Ninja 300 at 3.2L will be cheaper too . Not to forget P375, it will be full faired one with better looks and similar power at less than half the price.Originally posted by Divya Sharan View PostI doubt for the similar performance thing here.
The Honda may top out at ~200 kmph but the Duke is not reaching more than 160-70 kmph for sure. Its a naked for god's sake. Hence, performance takes a beating. But yeah, how many of us have seen 140 kmph for the sake of it? Where are the roads for 200? But Honda is ahead on this part.
Also, Honda shall have a more relaxed motor. Bliss for tourers.
Now, D390 is also a city bike like D200 which sells at 1.4L. (may increase with ABS version)
CBR500R/F/X is/are more of tourers ala the CBR250R which is priced at 2L OTR (ABS version)
By this logic, if the Honda is 4L, the Duke should be close to 2.8-3L OTR. Now that's not even close to half the Honda's price! Anyways that was just an estimate. No grudges.
People are buying both as per their needs right? They'll buy Hondas and Dukes in future too. Even the >500cc ones.
Honda if manufactured here and priced at 3.5L will be an excellent choice and will give N300 a run for its money. But higher that, there will be better choices.Street racing is for Squids trying to make up for their small equipment

3.5L is possible but only if Honda decides to manufacture that in India.

In reference to the pic i posted earlier, the soon to be owner says and i quote:Originally posted by Nithesh View PostAssuming the language is Thai, and the prices are in Baht. On conversation its about 3.6lakhs INR for the 500R. This will be the price if its manufactured in India like the CBR 250R.
Just for comparision sake the CBR 250R ABS retails at 115,000 Baht in THailand which is roughly about 2lakhs INR which is the same as the Indian price for the 250R
Prices mentioned are all ONroad

"It costs 204.000 thb - around 6600 usd - here and we only get abs versions in Thailand.
I will receive my bike on 11th or 12th of December and i cannot wait man!!!
I have seen the bikes and sat on them. Quality wise, they look fine.
Cbr500 looks super compact guys. It looks smaller than cbr250 when you look at it or sit on it!!!
And, good news: the Honda bigwign staff confirmed me that the bike will be 47 hp at the crank
three different staff confirmed me this at the motorshow and i think and hope this is true
Also there the mugen version of cbr500 and moriwaki cb500f and we get red colour for cb500f. cbx also looks good guys.
cb500f and cbr500r will get dunlop sportmax d222 and cbx will get pirelli scorpion trails.
Overall, i liked all of the 500 series but red cbr500 is the best looking imho.
happy with my purchase"
So that makes it a 47hp 500cc twin cylinder bike with ABS at 3.6 lakhs OTR. Anybody still think its underpowered and overpriced?Last edited by Nithesh; 12-03-2012, 05:04 PM.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

It s highly unlikely,Honda would launch the bike without localizing. It knows the Indian biking scenario too well, to make such a mistake. And price wise, Why do you people predict it to be double of CBR250?? well 250(ABS) costs 1.9+ Lakhs OTR. Hence 500 would be around 3 - 3.2 Lakhs(for extra cylinder and little change in chassis to handle more power damp the vibes, considering the 250's chassis is quite capable to handle high speeds),nothing more than that. Every time I predict a price,it normally comes true(Duke 200,Pulsar,R15V2). So I am damn sure this time too.Originally posted by payeng View Post3.5L is possible but only if Honda decides to manufacture that in India.

cbr has undercut ninja 300 by Rs 22000in uk. maybe it can happen here as well. they can do it like cbr150r ie import engine and build rest here. also these bikes are made economically so its a possibility.Originally posted by riot View PostDuke 200 wont cost anything more than 2L.
