I would take it as the guy's own personal opinion and won't generalize it. Talking of opinions like above, I have a video comparison between a ninja 300, cbr250r and a hyosung gt250r from a prominent international magazine/website. And in their opinion if you get a ninja 300 then you won't feel the need to upgrade to more powerful motorcycle for many years to follow. That's what they said, I'll update my post later with the name of that publication. So you see, there are opinions. Logically, a motorcycle with a true, comfortable top speed of over 170kmph won't bore you out soon. That is my opinion

Duke 390, though, is a steal at its price.

We shall try to keep this discussion separate from this thread. However, just to finish it off from my side I would say that the review is biased towards the fun element of motorcycling rather than covering all aspects of motorcycling. If you do it like this, then in all probability Duke shall always come on top. However, one of the guys also mentions that CBR500R being more practical and ninja is more focused as a sportbike. So you see, the kind of motorcycle you want will change the ranking of these motorcycles in your personal list. I saw that they mostly judged on the basis of fun, hence Duke. Nothing wrong with that though

          Now, THAT is amazing!

@pp180 - So, would you characterize D200 to be a better STREET bike than D390?
And D390 to be more suitable as a weekend rides bike?

It sounds people who test rode D390 but don't own D200 are really amazed by the bike, but those who own D200 are slightly disappointed, or at least have expected more...
          Yamaha R1 = 160 kmph in 1st gear
          Duke 390 = 60 kmph in 1st gear

          160 / 60 = 2.67

          Price of Duke 390 = 1.8 lakhs
          1.8 X 2.67 = 4.8 lakhs

          Price of R1 = > 15 lakhs

I'm just being realistic here. 60 kmph in 1st gear is a hell lot u can get from a sub 2 lakh motorcycle.

P.S: Don't mind the calculations. That's just BS.

Thats a stupid calculation lol. He was not comparing anything man, he just said that. BTW why on earth a bike has to be chosen just based on cost or Power? something that eludes me always. FYI you can get a used R6 for 5lakhs talk about cost to power ratio now LOL just kidding.

The very first review I found for the Indian Duke 390.

Looks like this chick didn't get the memo from KTM

                What’s Good:

                Excellent Acceleration

                High Torque

                Smoothest Gear-shift

                Good manoeuvrability

                Soft-touch switches

                Very good ABS

High Stability on all terrains and riding conditions

                Excellent mileage

Awesome price tag of 1.8 lacs (Delhi price)

                What’s Not Really So:

                Needs better cooling in city

The graphics could have been different considering the Duke 200 has similar looks.

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Apologies for asking again. Can anyone think of a sensible reason for no major reviews coming out on the Indian version of the 390?
The roads lead nowhere and hence, they lead everywhere.

Reasons I could think of are:

                        1. Strike at Chakan: No matter what Bajaj says, KTM production is not affected, I dont buy that.

                        2. Some issues with the D390, which is big enough to be called as niggles. But this can be validated, if anyone has seen D390's stored at any of the dealers apart from the Display pieces.

                        3. Sorting out the fueling issue if any with the D390, as some of us who tested could feel bike knock at lower rpm's.

The above reasons could be way off the mark, at the moment any thing we think of will be like shooting in the dark.

Nothing specific. Needless to say you need to carry your ID for their records. Pay by cheque/DD if possible, just because that'll act as secondary proof in case you loose your copy of booking.

I paid in cash myself, as dealer said he'll count my booking only after realization. As I said paying in cheque will be useful only if you lose your booking copy. No big deal.
