Nice to see such a different style of bike by an Indian manufacturer.. I've seen the bike before in pics but it looks gorgeous here, especially for such a different design. Nice to have for the weekend bikers.. I hope Enfield upped the reliability, technology(FI, ABS etc) and power!!
What are your views on the bike?? Liked it as much as I did??

2013 Royal Enfield Continental GT 535

While the Cafe Racer styling soothes the eyes, the real deal is the significant lightening of the motorcycle by eliminating unwanted cosmetic embellishments. The lightening job good enough to shave off over 15 kilograms, will make the Continental GT535 the lightest Royal Enfield motorcycle currently produced. Then you have the additional horsepower and torque that the increased displacement engine produces. The Continental GT535, as its name suggests comes with a higher displacement of 535cc.2013 Royal Enfield Continental GT 535

Firangs will have to shell out for this very bike.

I am not sure how practical this thing is going to be, also as ChaosAddict said the build quality does not seem to be up to the mark

Did RE release the Continental GT in Indian market? The bike in this picture is definitely not a factory bike, as the guy doesn't seem like a factory rider and the bike is not camouflaged. i have seen it in the 2012 Auto Expo at Delhi, its fantastic, and it is in the size of Bullet classic, but superb build quality.

Racing bike from RE.... RE will come up with more vrysoon

                          • Fuel Injected 535cc, air-cooled single, unit construction engine. Higher revving due to re-mapped ECU and lighter flywheel

                          • The Continental GT will be the fastest and most powerful production Royal Enfield motorcycle

                          • 15 Kg lighter than the Thunderbird 500

                          • Improved handling as a result of new tubular steel double down-tube and cradle design for the chassis

                          • Chunky Paioli developed gas shocks at the rear with Pirelli tyres

                          • Serious stopping power with Single full-floating Brembo front disc and ByBre single disc at the rear

Cafe Racers are meant for highway munching. I'm only worried about how comfortable this will be within cities in pothole roads and bumper to bumper traffic. It seems quite an akward seating position.

The Continental GT features styling that is reminiscent of the original 250cc Continental GT launched in 1965! The original bike was described to have "a big-bore carb, swept-back exhaust, clip-on bars, humpy racing seat, and a right-red fuel tank in glass-fiber with the Royal Enfield name in white letters". Royal Enfield has stuck to the template and a good thing too. The Continental GT will sit right at the top of Royal Enfield's range and will be expensive as well (The Thunderbird 500 cc already approaches the Rs. 2 Lakh mark).
While newer and more modern motorcycles can be had at the price, Royal Enfield has marketed its motorcycles brilliantly. The new Unit Construction Engine (UCE) has been well received and senior officials have indicated that there is a lot more that can be done with the engine. Royal Enfield sold 75,000 units in 2011 and is targeting sales of 150,000 units in 2013, with exports at around 7500 units. A supply bottleneck, quality niggles and long waiting periods for its motorcycles have been a bug bear over the last couple of years. This will be taken care of this year, as its second manufacturing unit at Oragadam near Chennai begins production.
