re: Royal Enfield Continental GT535 Cafe Racer Spotted: xBhp News
^^Well it's a single cylinder, so it can only sound like one! I don't know what qualifies for a "race sound" though. It is still an RE and peaks out around 5100 rpm.
Regarding handling, it is said to be the best handling RE and lighter to flick as well (again, as compared to other REs). It is not obviously not going to handle like a typical race inspired sportbike or even like any modern streetfighter of today, simply because it doesn't have that kind of a chassis/suspension components. I believe when the culture of a Cafe Racer started, it might have simply meant to be a quick/fast, fun ride to a common joint of fellow riders. Of course, I am assuming this and I might be wrong.Last edited by Satellite.kid; 09-13-2013, 11:24 PM.The Chronicles of Motorcycling - The Man, The Machine and The Road

Absolutely disliked the background music in that video. But for the 5 seconds or so (when the bike was being revved after starting it) it sounded like a Kawasaki-Bajaj Caliber being started. Could not make out the engine sound at higher speeds thanks to the annoying music.Originally posted by Boom S View PostCurrently without a vehicle. When will RE improve and satisfy customers!! street racer no where close to original street racers on road eg: D390
Handling/Acceleration/power would be a question !!
I see this is no where in any segment in competition!!

have you have test ridden it ?
the original is D390 ? really ? RE is recreating a retro bike. why on earth would you compare with a naked roadster ?
plus all reviews have mentioned it is the best made RE in terms of quality. it's okay to hate RE but why barge on to this thread only to spew your bias ?

Few important engine specifications of Continental GT:
- Bore x stroke 87mm x 90mm
- Compression Ratio 8.5:1
- Maximum Power 29.1 bhp (21.4 kW) @ 5100 rpm
- Maximum Torque 44 Nm @ 4000 rpm
----consecutive posts auto-merged-----
And it isn't light, not sure about lightest :
- Kerb Weight-(90% Fuel+Oil)184 Kgs
- Fuel Tank Capacity13.5 Ltrs
Fuel tank capacity is a bit let down again but as the name says it is a cafe racer.. race between cafe to cafe (as RE says "find your cafe we have built the racer") and we have several cafes here in India
The bike no doubt looks smashing and would definitely gonna turn many heads in awe on the road..

Just spotted the RE Continental GT, outside Lalbagh West Gate, at Bangalore.
I gave a thumbs up to the rider, & he acknowledged it with a return thumbs up.
Sped away before I could get any closer on my R15, once the signal turned green.
The bike had a TN registration plate, which was surprisingly the normal white one, and not the red one that's usually used during testing.

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

That pic of people looking at the bike is after the rider returned the thumbs up to me.
No one gave a single look to the bike, before that.
The bike does have good road presence, & looks better in the flesh than it does in the pics.
