Re: KTM RC 390 Launch confirmed: xBhp News

News from internal sources at Bajaj - KTM : All KTM bikes irrespective of domestic / export are rolled out of the same assembly lines at chakan plant.

Issues reported in India are primarily due to the Indian road / traffic conditions and partly due to final QC.

I heard that exports to EUROPE / USA go through another round of QC at Mattigofen, Austria. That possibly explains the pricing of 2.5 times more as compared to India pricing.

haha, I hope not. Although, I wonder if the 390's sold across the world are 'exactly' the same as the ones sold in India. Because I haven't come across any international reviews complaining about these problems.

I think I'm talking myself out of buying the RC 390!

perhaps responsibility for such issues lies partly on KTM as well ?

i am not sure if KTM has given the work of engine and other delicate engineering stuff to bajaj as well or not..it isnt clear from generally available articles in the internet on bajaj/ktm partnership...those articles just say ktm provides the know-how to bajaj and bajaj takes the responsibility of production and distribution..production as in full manufacturing or what is not clear to me.

i think most of engine-related and other more delicate engineering works are also done by bajaj, with probably just the theoretical engineering principles/R&D/whatever coming from KTM...hell if that's really the case these are pretty much just bajaj bikes pimped up with the looks and names of KTM..

i just hope bajaj doesn't do cheap quality work on it as they have always done...that is the only, but a really major, hesitation about this bike that anyone can have in theory.

    Fck yes... bring it on!
I hope Bajaj gets the power parts here, the rear sets would be an absolute must have for me.

This has been so mighty depressing. The wait I mean. I just can't wait till Diwali... I have looked hard enough at more expensive options like the Ninja 650 but I so absolutely hate the handle bar, not to mention the one kidney I will have to sell to buy it.

Now I am at complete loss, Duke 390 is amazing but I am not sure I want a naked, I was so set on RC390 that I stopped considering other options. Soon I will have my work location and then the dilemma will begin...

P.S don't jump on me for mentioning two absolutely, entirely different motorcycles in one post. I don't buy motorcycles for practicality, just whatever appeals to me...

Wow, and KTM has been telling us on their website since last november that it's "coming soon". Looks like an year is "soon" for them.

^^^ KTM assembles it's race prepared bikes at Mattighofen. Also while parts of stock RC390 will be used for the production race machine these parts are cherry picked from production lots for their closest tolerance specs. In other words a few tens or even hundred will be selected from the thousands for their accuracy. These are then hand assembled to create the production racer. To a great extent these bike can be called blue printed bikes.

The biggest differences between the production RC390 and the production race machine (other than the blue printed engine) is the electronics (to limit the power) and special fully adjustable WP suspension in the front and back. This WP suspension is not available on market and is specially made for the production racer.

For a fascinating look at KTM's production racer operations take look at this Building a Moto3 bike…KTM BLOG - KTM BLOG
