Re: 2017 Yamaha R15 launched in Indonesia
Yamaha is not sure if they should bring R15 V3 to India or not – R15 V2 upgraded to BS4

I think the only way to knock some sense into these people including the folks over at Honda, is to Boycott their bikes.Last edited by MotoBlizzard; 05-03-2017, 06:30 PM.For My Gixxer Related videos: Click HERE

even i used to think like that but when you look at the bigger picture these companies want to rake up profits and thats only seen in geared scooters section.. people like us are still a niche who are willing to spend 2L plus on a two wheeler.. it would be a huge investment to import such new bikes for so few people.. maybe they are not willing to take such risks like ktm and bajaj.. if it was made locally like the RC and Duke it would have made sense otherwise its always money over emotions for these people.

In the case of ktm (bajaj) India is the main manufacturing hub for 125 - 390 cc motorcycles. They export bikes from here and India is also getting benefited.
But in case of Honda and Yamaha, they have manufacturing hubs in other countries like Indonesia for most of the 200+ cc bikes. They export to EU countries from there.
The only possibility for us to get these bikes at reasonable price is when they invest money in India and start manufacturing these in India. That will happen only when they get high demand for these bikes locally.Suzuki GS150R(Balck) 2009- 2012

Re: 2017 Yamaha R15 launched in Indonesia
My guess is that, they are going to release the V3 in 2018 as it would be the 10th anniversary of R15 in india. R15 was first introduced in 2008. Also they won't discontinue the V2 either as the price difference between the two would be big enough to keep them both in the market. Hence keeping both parties happy.
As the directive from government. All newer models should be equipped with ABS by 2018 and already running model by 2019, so they may come up with V3 in 2018 with ABS.
V3 will be marketed as track machine, with all the goodies and V2 would be kept as it is and would be marketed as ON ROAD/TRACK bike. Thinking that V3 won't come to india altogether is non sense as this is where the whole linage started and yamaha knows it.
P.S, - This are my honest guess and I think that this is how yamaha will move forward with R15 line in india.Last edited by Felicity; 05-05-2017, 03:44 AM.There's a light at each end of this tunnel you shout cause you're just as far in as you'll ever be out.

Re: 2017 Yamaha R15 launched in Indonesia
Next year ABS is going to be compulsory and with this bike not having it how will it be launched? Or will the Indian specific model have ABS?Originally posted by Jatindersk View PostThere is a powerdrift video in which a tip yamaha official stated that if there is a requirement we will surely bring it. Whereas earlier yamaha india head said that v3 will be a step ahead in every department compared to v2. So, i personally think YES it will be here by year end.

Spied in India atlast. No USD forks, no Nissin brakes(bybre visible on front caliper), mrf’s, no new swingarm, no slipper clutch, probably headlight could be normal compared to LED’s elsewhere, and due to the fact that Yamaha India recently updated the current R15 to bs4, we maynot even get the new 155cc VVA 19bhp engine.
In short, we get a budget R15 . Thats sad.
