Re: Bajaj Auto faces labor trouble: xBhp News
Brother, what you say 8k is in tier 1(suppliers to OEMs) pay for diploma trainees & casuals. Even I was in a Tier 1 (in chennai- lowest paid place in country) before joining OE in north, where I was an design engineer with B.Tech, but i would get salary lessthan person who works on shop floor (around 25-30k pm) with 12th grade or less. am not discriminating, but the fact is due to labour laws & unions workers get paid more in a good company than entry level engineers (leave high paid managers out).. in north even some senior workers get about 60k per month in hand & lowest will be for a new joined worker about 25 to 30k (if permanent employee)..The salary you quote is for an engineer as you said but that cadre happens to belong to officer designation in a factory and not part of labour workforce. The workers i.e. the people who actually work on the machines and with their hands and tools are not paid so high, if they are permanent their salaries would start at probably 8k/month with some perks like food, transport, etc and max end up at the salary of the basic engineer you mention.

correct!! some days back when the maruti labour went on strike, their average salaries were published, and they were eye popping considering that most would be at best unspecialized graduates(I want to differentiate between professional courses like BE/B tech and B com/ Bsc etc).Originally posted by saikarthik View PostBrother, what you say 8k is in tier 1(suppliers to OEMs) pay for diploma trainees & casuals. Gave me much heartburn when I thought about the effort/time wasted on entrance exams and the grueling B.tech syllabus
