The petrol pipe and the spark plug are not accessible..
To topup the engine oil, you need to remove the fairings...

The horn is not like a scooty's horn.. Its decent and loud..

Congrats Ajay. I find the RC200 livery better than the RC390. It looks very menacing in that black paint scheme. The Rc390 looks a little more gentlemanly. Much like the duke 390(white-orange) as compared to the D200.
Btw the dukes do not come with a mudflap(made of rubber) as gar as I know. They were all 'jugaads' done by owners to save the radiator. Or did they start putting that on from factory now?

RC390 reachd here. Now the pre delivery inspection going on so test drive is postponed to next week and the showroom people are on RC training. Could get a few snaps.

The seats are soft compared to the duke. I am 5.9 and my friend is 6.1, both of us were comfortable.

Thanks Doga... Yes they are giving the mud flaps for the front wheel mud guard as standard now for the dukes...

Also the rear tyre hugger is put in.. However that guy at the showroom didn't budge a single rupee.. Said will offer two liters petrol.. I said that low fuel on FI will spoil the FI and he said that its okay.. It won't get spoilt... Wow
..

Just a question.. Do FI vehicles have spark plugs...???

Yes FI vehicles do have spark plugs. The fuel injection system 'injects' the fuel but the spark plugs are still required to ignite it.

Deathmate.Zed Thanks.. then what's the difference between FI & Carb?? is it just a more efficient fuel delivery system and nothing more? Coz I read that FI does burn the fuel more efficiently than carb..

OT: I would love to answer that in detail but that would be OT So in short, you are partly correct. The FI and Carb systems differ mostly in the way they deliver fuel into the engine. FI is a more advanced unit that sprays the required amount of fuel to the engine more efficeintly than a carb system. Programmed FIs are even smarter by controlling the amount of fuel injected based on need/throttle input. This results in better economy, smoother and linear power delivery due to better fuelling. For more details, I am sure there is a dedicated thread here that you can refer to

Back on topic: KTM Mysore is giving test rides starting Thursday. So I am heading straight over there Any mysorians wanna accompany?

Putting it bluntly both FI and Carb do the same thing - mix fuel with air to achieve best possible combustion. Where a carb is pure mechanical and runs as per its setting, FI is managed by ECU, often with inputs from sensors all over the bike, including the elements present in the exhaust in case of a closed loop system (dukes and rcs have a closed loop). Therefore, the ecu adjusts the air-fuel mixture depending on the parameters prevalent at that time making it more efficient.

Am not sure. Showroom guy told the PDI is going on...that too in their warehouse near to my home. May be they are talking about the test drive motorcycle. Because they also said it will take 2-3 months for delivery.

Hey folks,

The RC 390 is now on display at KTM, Sembakkam showroom at Chennai. When I went this noon, they were just about done with the PDI & wheeling it to the display area. I had a slightly long chat with one of the partners of Jai Autos, who was also present. Some excerpts (don't pin me down on plausibility for some of the points, take it with a pinch of salt):

1. RC 390 - on-road price is 2.33 L.
2. Jai Autos is going to open the first Kawasaki superbike showroom, for bikes with 800cc & above, on Oct 12, at Chennai.
3. Kawasaki has planned for a track day on Oct 11-12, at Chennai, not sure about the dates, just for this launch.
4. Kawasaki has planned to bring the Z250, in about a month & a half from now, but as a CKD. This will be available in the regular Bajaj - KTM showrooms at Chennai.
5. Diwali will see Pulsar 150 NS & SS launch. For the larger Pulsars, Bajaj is in wait & watch mode, based on market reception of RCs.

The above were his claims. Now, let's see what happens.

Just back from KTM showroom after checking out the new RC390. The bike looks smaller in flesh compared to posters and is low slung and the headlights would be at about the same height as any 150cc bike. The seat is more rounded compared to D390 and comfortable, I am 5'7" and could reach the ground while sitting on the bike, its just perfectly positioned IMO. The riding posture requires a little lean may be slightly more than R15 but not by much. Overall it looks quite compact and neat.

OT: The N300 was parked on the side and it stands way above RC390 if fit and finish and looks truly world class but at double the price, sigh.

I could only get some random snaps with my phone as i was in a hurry as well as i came to know about the presence of RC390 once i was near to this KTM showroom (The other showroom didn't have any RC for display).

The motorcycle looks really good. The weight is around 166Kg with fuel. The showroom people where riding it as was under PDI so couldn't get a test drive.

The rider seat was comfortable for me. And the foot peg positioning was pretty good (Both rider's and Pillion's) and well integrated.

The rear tail has the KTM logo which is looking good and the tail lamp is pretty awesome looking. The grab rails are neatly placed underneath the pillion seat. The grab rails provides decent grip only.

You can see a sort of bungee clip kind of thing which is only on the right side (placed in between rider seat and pillion seat ) which is actually a kind of grab rail according to showroom people (For registration purpose else it will be registered as a single seat motorcycle).

The rear seat was pretty good.

BTW, he said that Bajaj aren't divulging details about the larger Pulsars.
