Yes very much! Can I take it on my own the first time as well? Mine is RC 200 and I don't remember the exact amount they have quoted.

In case I don't go for insurance from the showroom, what should be my course of action ?

What did you end up doing? Did not take it from the showroom?

Showroom guy told me that the difference is because they are insuring the bike for onroad price, while insurance company's calculation is based on ex-showroom price. My car's insurance paper shows it was insured based on ex-showroom price. And there was no problem in claiming. So I have decided to do it from outside.

In my case I went to Oriental insurance office they provided a rough qoute and gave me an agents number. I need to provide the invoice from showroom which has engine no: and chasis no: of the bike and my id proof. My bike haven't reached showroom yet.

So the right way of doing this would be:

        1. Pay for the bike and get the invoice.
        2. Using this invoice, get the insurance done.
        3. Take delivery of the bike.

        Right?

          Right?

The procedure should be like that only. What was the amount quoted by showroom for your bike. You are taking RC200 right.

Yes, it's an RC 200. I don't remember the Insurance cost but the OTRs are as follows:

            With B2B insurance : 189885
            With 95% coverage : 189388

You can call and ask them and then enquire at insurance office. So you can check the difference.

I got a quotation showing the ex showroom price road tax, handling charges and insurance amount.

Aren't insurance premiums calculated based on the Ex-showroom and NOT on the OTR?

you are right it's not based on OTR.

Why will insurance pay for road tax. It is not going meet with an accident

Yes. I think showroom guy was just making up some reasons.

The total onroad price quoted for me was 2,34,400. In which 1500 was loan paper work, they told this charge was for readying loan papers and will be charged even if we are taking loan from bank (not from Bajaj). When asked the details there was nothing for them to say and they agreed to reduce that amount. Then last week they called me and told that insurance amount was increased by 400, I got suspicious and enquired about it at insurance office and they told a lesser rate.

Total amnt claimed was 89000. There was no depreciation for fiber parts. However I was told that no depreciation policy will be valid only for first 3 years, after that the insurance company will decide whether to extend it or not. I think conditions will be same for bike.

Insurance was from national insurance company.

Conditions are different for bikes as in case of an accident the damage is more severe even for small accidents (frame and under warranty parts always at risk). Remember claiming insurance for my apache 150 in 2007. Value depreciated. Of course the claim was for 12k INR which at that time was almost a quarter of the cost.

If they are providing no depreciation insurance for bikes then they should provide full claim for fiber parts right?

Mine has come and they told I can pick it up 2 days after completing the payment (which I am going to do tomorrow) but I don't think I will be able to do it in the weekdays

The OTR for RC 390 is 243xxx, how can there be such a BIG difference??

And the bank charges you are talking about is actually the 'processing fee' which all the banks charge, for any type of loan.
