Flop show once again by honda . The people whom honda intends to attract will consider better option such as gixxer and fz 2.0

Hardly a flop show! Remember this is a commuter bike and is not a competition at all to the Gixxer/FZ. This bike will cater to the mass commuter segment and not the naked bikes segment. With the Unicorn branding, they are bound to succeed since they were successful with the previous Unicorn. People using the existing Hero Honda Splendour and 1st gen Unicorn will definitely buy this when it is time for them to buy another vehicle.

They are just refusing to acknowledge the market for entry level 150 cc naked bikes which seems to be doing well in India. I felt Gixxer wouldn't take off but it has taken off and competing well with Yamaha FZ. Somehow, Honda doesn't want to get into that market or have different plans.

And dont forget that Dazzler also had Unicorn in its name and was a super flop . I guess this might replace the ageing Unicorn itlsef so that it find itself a market and remain the only choice for Unicorn fanatics . Other than that I dont think this will succeed if its priced same as Gixxer and FZ

Wasted a whole month after Gixxer's launch hoping for some miracle from Honda. I just called suzuki and am going to book the Gixxer on Monday.
Been using Unicorn for the past 8 years and its time to change the family.

Dazzler was called Unicorn Dazzler but the Dazzler part was the one that featured in the ads and on the bike prominently! With this 160 cc, they have just named it Unicorn 160 which is good marketing because people who wouldn't want to move away from the Unicorn family will stick to it! As a commuter this will be a success since it doesn't have that naked style to it. Seems like a sedate Unicorn from previous generation.

A lot of us really wished this was a brand new naked bike with a 160 cc engine! Unfortunately, it is not. Honda seems to be playing it safe after experimenting with failures like the Dazzler and Trigger.

Even so many xbhp members who own R15 version 1 had the urge to get the version 2.

Well the version 2 did have the Europian looks so I can see the appeal. And loyalty ki baat hi kuch aur hai bhai. You'll see this amongst RE and pulsar owners more. Many sold their old bikes to get the new ones with digital speedos and many sold their new RE's to get the old bullet for the nostalgia.

gixxer is much better looking design than this
this may be targeted towards the older generation where people want substance over style.

If honda is playing safe then it means suzuki took the risk with gixxer...???

Ofcourse they did! They had no noticeable presence in the 150 cc market apart from the GS150R which didn't sell.

Suzuki had nothing to loose and judging by the current waiting period(1week to 4 weeks) for the Gixxer at various dealers across the country shows that the gamble has paid off for them. Except for the tiny rear seat, it seems like the perfect package at the moment. Sane riders are getting 50 kmpl after first service which is pretty decent for what it offers.

On the other hand, Honda to me atleast seems to be only keen on winning the number 1 spot from Hero in India. They don't seem to be too bothered about having a presence in all segments.

can't understand why didn't they design something different when they have a little bit bigger engine in their hands, it looks like Trigger which itself is a flop.

According to they'll have to design something different or out of the box type to gain more market share in 150cc segment because pulsar, apache and fz have very loyal customer base. Rest of the bikes in this segment don't have much presence.

Another premature flop bike by Honda. Honda is steadily losing its plot. The only successful products in India are Unicorn, Activa 110 and to some extent avaiator. Looks like a cross between unicorn and dazzler. I like to meet the guy who approved this into production. My dream of replacing my trusty GS 150 just went up in smoke.

Ya, you are right. But Even upgrading the current Unicorn with digital meters and minor teaks here and there can do the trick in this segment.

I personally like the bike and might be a good option for people to upgrade from their unicorn without compromising on practicality.

I might sound biased, but the middle portion looks exactly like my bike(Hunk), anyone else feel the same? oh and the rear mudguard too(extends from the bike to few inches)

Yes, Honda knows the market Better than Us, hence the Dazzler and Trigger failed miserably.
As I said, they already have a practical 150 in their line up(Unicorn), which is doing great. Why another one?? Makes no sense. It will never work, just eat into each other's market initially and ultimately die. And todays market consists of most of the youngsters in their late 20s. Most of them prefer style over practicality.

LOL, so this is the so called premium bike, and I read somewhere that it was a brand new bike designed from scratch. What piece of crap Honda has come out with. Already looks a generation old compared to the Yamaha FZ and Suzuki Gixxer. Honda should stick to selling 100cc bikes and scooters, they are clueless as far as the 150CC market is concerned. A big thumbs down.
