  • Suzuki to withdraw the Inazuma from India starting March 2015

Suzuki has decided to withdraw its 250cc offering from the Indian market. Low sales and lesser profitability have led to this decision.

    News Approved.

A 1 Lac rupee discount was the first step. And later, Inazuma was pulled from the website too. Now, its official.

While it may be a gem of a bike, and one of the few multicylinders, it just doesn't have the Charisma needed to survive in India.
India is still an immature market with various product segments not properly filled. In such a situation, where motorcycles actually attract a crowd, the general appearance is a big motivator.

Meanwhile, if anyone wants to get a comfortable multicylinder motorcycle for a good price, rush to the Suzuki dealer now and try your luck.

Well, with the Inazuma story ending, let's see if the GSR 500 or 600 make it here. Because, that's something that might actually make an impact, if coupled with a good price.

Suzuki seems to be really confused. First, they were confused with price. Now they are confused with the product itself. A decent product is suffering due to lack of proper market study I guess.

Well, this was kind of expected and they have done this eventually without too much delay. There was no way Inazuma could have made an impact the way it was released and price was not the only reason. At least they will have better perception of the market now and can proceed to find a good replacement bike.

Ugly front styling & bad pricing were the sole factors behind this failure

so now the owners will have to suffer, spare parts and servicing problems, not to mention resale value taking a nose dive.

India is not a market for specific features, we people want a overall package kind of a product, I think Suzuki made a mistake by launching it in India.

Actually they did almost nothing for the bike no marketing, price was also high a 4L bike needs lot of attention in term of everything.

They should have launched the FXR 150 in the performance segment instead of launching an overpriced, underpowered excessively heavy, subjectively styled and totally irrelevant vehicle like the Inazuma 250 in the Indian market. They seem to have no market research or just are sitting on top of a hill with their fists stuffed fully into their ear canal!!!

To be honest, it's an ugly looking bike. No offense to the owners, just my opinion.

You're right. It had all the makings of an awesome premium commuter/tourer. If only Suzuki had produced this bike in India and sold it for anywhere from 1.8 to 2.2 lakhs I bet it would have sold like hot cakes. And I'm sure it would have easily redefined the commuter market completely further ushering in more new premium bikes in India. Alas it indeed is sad to see it go but given the company's strategy for it, this was bound to happen.

policy of suzuki is wrong.they are selling this bike in selected cities. after a year they have not increased dealership of this bike, earlier price was on higher side later price reduced but dealership remained same up to some selected cities. even today we do not know from where they are importing these bikes. if company makes it clear bikes are imported from japan ,it will give them good sales figure. it is unfortunate, they are withdrawing this bike from the market within a year.

With due respect for everyone's opinion, I still believe the final price was not the biggest problem...

Honestly, where would you place a multicylinder motorcycle? Is 2.3 Lacs on road a bad price? (This was the price after the recent discount.)

It was the cheapest multicylinder motorcycle in the market, and a great tourer at that if I'm not wrong. And the looks were bland, I agree, but in a country filled with commuters, it wasn't so bad, or was it?

(I know I sound like an old man at a funeral paying a tribute, "he was a great person, he was not that bad, etc, etc", although I still believe a bike so good didn't deserve a funeral after all.)

The problem was somewhere in the marketing and looks of the motorcycle, in my humble opinion, but not the price.
And yes, like @Prince_sirohi says, the existing owners will now face the aftermath.

Marketing was the sole reason behind inazuma's failure. They did nothing to promote it. No tv ads, no newspaper ads, no contests. Don't know how suzuki was expecting numbers without letting people know about its product..???
