It would be great if someone can give us an update from the area as well.
This order could only be for people who ride up to Rohtang have a 'picnic' there and return to Manali. May not apply to people riding to Leh.
It wouldn't make a lot of sense closing down an arterial road for people to travel on! But then the NGT has made quite a few decisions that don't make a lot of sense!!!Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

This could make sense if the ban is limited to only during Dec-Jan or during landslides. But if this is for the whole year, then it's a disappointing news!A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

I did some reading up today... Its not a complete ban on two wheelers, just that a permit will now be required to pass through Rohtang... At least that is what I understoodComment

No permits would be issued...its a complete ban. Hope they remove it before my next year's trip

Ban is on the number of vehicle that passes through, only 1000 vehicles are allowed in total. One needs to get the permission (pass) and waiting period is of 3 days.
