If one approaches Leh through Srinagar then he have to face high altitude scenario accilimazation.
So he has to be in Srinagar for 2-3 days to get it accilimazed."Riding By Passion, Wandering By Choice !!" - IceAgeOnWheels

Not necessarily. It depends on the person.Originally posted by NightFurry View PostIf one approaches Leh through Srinagar then he have to face high altitude scenario accilimazation.

I went through the same route about 2 weeks ago, only staying overnight in Srinagar and Kargil and didn't face any problems with the altitude.

Re: All 2 wheelers banned from Rohtang Pass
I am from himachal but I'm settled in Mumbai now but my parents are in himachal and my younger brother is running his adventure travel business in shimla. Yesterday only I was talking to my dad and he informed me about this issue and what I understood that local taxi operators are not happy with the cabs and vehicles coming from out of state as it is reducing their business which I believe is ridiculous. And they started stopping vehicles coming from outside and it seems they also had physical fights with drivers and tourists. Due to pressure from these taxi unions government had stopped allowing vehicles on rohtang pass road but now it seems they are allowing 1000 vehicles on first come first go basis and one May have to wait 3-4 days for their turn. I am surprised that bikes are also banned. Will call my friends in manali for a clear picture soon.

motorcycles aren't banned. rather one cannot go to rohtang top and return. people who want to continue till leh will get permit and they can ride across."A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel."

Re: All 2 wheelers banned from Rohtang Pass
Well I think we should not get into any other discussion apart from the Bike being banned from Rohtang which is not the case either. The Taxi operators have another issue going on which is almost sorted and cleared by now, they are right in their own way too. About bike being banned, nothing like that is happening. Its just that their may be a toll to go to Rohtang pass from now onward for motorcyclist as well. Wait for few more days and all will be clear.

Nothing as such, in fact Srinagar - Leh acclimatized you as the altitude rising is gradual from Srinagar-Drass-Kargil-Alchi-Leh. In fact, Leh- Manali need acclimatization.
