Shigeta Nishikawa, Deputy Managing Director, Kawasaki Motors India, said:
Kawasaki has an assembly line for engine and frame assembly of high-end bikes in Pune, through Bajaj auto. The facility has a capacity to roll out about 5000 units a year, and considering the increasing acceptance of high end motorcycles by youth, company is hoping to double the 10 per cent share of market that sold between 9,000 and 10,000 units a year.

While the numbers are not important per se, Mr. Nishikawa said that it was important for Kawasaki to have in place a strong sales-and-service network in the country before they stepped up marketing. The Kawasaki India production capacity in other countries includes 80,000 units in Japan, apart from Thailand (2 lakh), Indonesia (1.5 lakh) and Phillipines (1 lakh).

Mr Nishikawa was in India on Wednesday to inaugurate . Six models of Kawasaki motorcycles were present at the showroom launch starting from Kawasaki Z800 at Rs 7.6 lakh, ex-showroom to the Ninja H2 at Rs 29 lakh.

    News Approved.

I'm glad that Mr. Nishikawa's and Kawasaki's values are of having a strong after sales service & support first. Reputation must be earned first only, money can be earned anytime.
I hope no one falls in love with the Ninja H2 on display. It would be a one sided love, now that all the planned 5 units are sold.

      Ensure quality. Quantity follows.
They have a very good partnership with Bajaj for decades. The increase plan in production promises some new launches for sure. Maybe a new 250/300cc!

Wow this is interesting, few days back only me and my friend was discussing about Versys 650. A very good touring bike it is, keeping my fingers crossed and hoping to get some news soon.

The one bike I am really excited for is the Vulcan S... After all, India market has long been ignored in terms of cruisers. Apart from RE and HD we only have the good old Avenger to call out for!

I don't think the SLs will be launched here. Too tough competition in that bracket, and Kawasaki would like to maintain it's image as the costly and quality bike makers.

The probable bikes will be Vulcan S, Versys 650, ZX-6R, ZX-10 and one unknown.

Well, there is the Suzuki Boulevard/Intruder, which is better than the Vulcan in every possible way.

Better, maybe. But the 650 cc Vulcan S will definately be much more affordable as compared to Intruder (~6-7 L vs Rs 10L). And if the rumours are to be believed, 300cc Vulsan based on the current Ninja 300 can also see light in India!

I have never ridden either one... therefore could you enlighten us, "better" in exactly what way?

                            A very nice job done!
Just one suggestion - keep the video short(3-5 minutes) by merging and editing small clips.

Oh God no. Please no. I have seen enough cruiser engine derived from sport bikes to see that how works. Look at all the avengers/eliminators. They dont have the character of a cruiser. Always buzzing about. Never quite settled.
