Isn't Kawasaki planning a Vulcan 2000? (assuming its still in production)

The lesser cruisers just wont work. We all know what happened to the Intruder 800. The superlow and Iron just killed it. And making in India is not really feasible, as the numbers are just not there. So that rules out the Vulcan S, IMHO.

The 900 would get raped day and night by the 883. And if you got to bring a 1700, why not go the whole hog and bring 2K. (The 1.7K doesn't have enough chrome anyway)

I dont think the Vulcan S is one of the three being talked about. Dont see it happening. Even Autocar is doing guesswork. And if launched, dont see it selling anyway. Heck I wouldn't buy it over a superlow.

Agree!! As a CKD unit, the Vulcan S will be priced in the Superlow bracket. That, for sure, will go in favor of HD.

Plus, DOHC and a cruiser-ish engine profiling will call for more maintenance! Again, the Street 750 is a V-Twin with SOHC....for those who know, the choice will be simple!

Got a chance to talk with Mr Shigeto Nishikawa. So straightaway asked about ZX6R. He said that they are working on homologating the bike. They have not decided whether to bring it as CBU or SKD. CBU will make it very expensive and they don't want that. Which is a nice thing, they do consider price point. And the other thing is saree guard. He said it is a very big issue for a manufacturer. I replied that we remove it the next day of purchase. To which he laughed. He said we have to respect the government rules.
Other than that we discussed about design philosophy of Kawasaki. And the impact of Japanese anime on the design. He said that it is a very big influence for the design. In fact the inspiration for Ninja H2 was a character from popular Japanese animation series called Mobile Suit Gundam.

^^^ that's it then. ZX6 will be my next bike. Looks like Yamaha will loose me as customer for future bikes. It's Kawker all the way now.

This thread is plainly reiterating a fact that someone rightly put in the past - though Honda talks about power of dreams, it's Kawasaki who's putting genuine efforts in helping us, lesser souls, realize our dreams.

That's me on the right :P just woke up and went there.
But Kawasaki is the only serious Japanese company who wants us to have superbikes. Not like others who just show us big feasts and throw some leftover bits.

                        Agree.

This is because the "others" have automatic scooters and commuters to sell (that too in mind boggling numbers). The Big Bikes (for the "others") are just to provide halo to their smaller ones.

Funny you say that, because the Ninja 650 came after the Hyosung was a huge hit, and suddenly Kawa deciphered that there was a huge market for 5 lakh bikes.

Does anyone logically expect the ZX6R (if launched that is) to be costing any less than the Daytona?
                            Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

                              Yes myself. Here is the logic;

                              1) Modi appoints a new external affairs minister.
2)He turns out to be a closet biker(apart from being a closet pracharak)
3)India Japan are forming even closer ties these days to together counter the Chinese aggressive overtures.
                              4)Modi plans a Japan visit/Abe plans a India visit
5)Our closet biker minister slips in high custom/homologation duties issue in the agenda to be discussed
6)India Japan sign a pact to abolish duties for Japanese motorbike imports
7)I line up at Kawa showroom
                              8)I ride away on a ZX-6R
                              9)I wake up
The hero always RIDES into the sunset!
