Hey guys... Took a TD of Dominar, RE Himalayan, CBR250R yesterday and today.
And I should say Dominar beat 'em hands down.
Quick thing about the other bikes, that I felt from the TD
    1)RE Himalayan: (50km TD- Chamundi Enfield-Salem)
    Pros:
Great seating for pillion and rider. Nice stability during winds. I was able to push till 85-90 kmph and there were no vibes.
    Cons:
Hard clutch. Hard gear shifter. Engine got heated up after riding at 90kmph and felt the heat on my legs so much. The windshield started shaking around 40-50kmph and lasted forever.

    2)CBR250R: (20kms odd- Suryabala Honda - Coimbatore)
    Pros:
Engine smoothness as we all know. Nice pickup.
    Easy handling.
    Cons:
The pillion seat is quite not the type I want. I travel with a pillion often and it wasn't comfy.
Model is quite old. I asked the showroom ppl if there any upgrades coming up, they werent sure and they were too keen on selling the one CBR250R they had in their showroom.

    3)Dominar 400: (40odd kms-Adhitya Bajaj-Coimbatore)
    Pros:
The pickup and performance is wonderful and unexpected. I had never liked Bajaj but today things are different. The work done by BAL on the bike is very evident. The power delivery is very linear and smooth. The engine was smooth as compared to other Bajaj bikes but not as much as Honda's. Seating posture is excellent and comfortable for long rides. The rider and pillion seats are very comfy. The bike's got good stability in highways. The instrument cluster is delightful to look at. As I reached 130kmph, vibrations started seeping in, and I cooled down. The brakes are excellent. Rear brake could be a bit better but good enough. The bike stops where you want it to stop. It gives an overall confidence while driving. The suspension is good, the 43mm forks doing a good job. Gear shifting is excellent, smooth and the slipper clutch adds more comfort to it.
    Cons:
    1) Large turning radius. It was so large that the guy who drove (2nd ride, where i was the pillion to test pillion comfort) almost dropped the bike.
    2) Weight. I'm upgrading from a CB Unicorn 150 and this bike didnt seem much heavy to me. I was able to balance it pretty well though it will be difficult for some like the guy above.
    3) Horn. Very poor horn. Even I couldn't hear it at times. But I was told we could upgrade it later. So I guess it's fine. But until then, it's a negative.

FYI, I was told black and red colours will be available from nov-dec '17 and may be yellow too.

On the whole, the Dominar at 1.6L is an irresistible package. After the test drive, I came back home and booked the bike.! And I'm very glad I did.

(Sorry for the cramped info. I just jotted down the points as it came up in my mind)

PS: since this is a Dominar focussed thread, I've given more importance to its review than the other ones.
While the CBR250R is still a benchmark for all-rounded performance, the deal that the D400 gives you for that price is irresistible. Congratulations on your booking. I only hope that there are lesser niggles during long term ownership.

          I picked moon white dude.
I got a msg from bajaj saying delivery starts jan 2017, which is tomo[emoji28]
Anyways, I called the showroom guys. They said they are getting the first load on Jan 10th and there have been 400 bookings as of now. And there's a second load coming on jan 16th, So they told me I should be expecting the bike anytime after that, possibly between 16th-28th.

went to test ride again today at a different showroom. ripped it around corners a bit. it has that hook phenomenon from ktm bikes intact. when you enter a corner, bike is like average grip and not very inspiring. but once you cross a point around corner, tire builds great hold giving you confidence and feedback to open throttle. its a great handler i think.

jumping back to r15, it felt like a toy even more than it normally does
it was quiet evident riding them back to back how sharper and responsive r15 really is.

That rubber washer thing happens in one of my friend's duke 390 also..

I made a video of the D400 and i uploaded it on YouTube.

I was very honest about everything and also mentioned the negatives as well. To my surprise most of the comments are abusive. Why? Coz i mentioned negatives about this motorcycle. Also mentioned how much for for money this is.

So if i understand it right, if you come up with shortcomings on a any product in India, specially Bajaj you've recieve hatred.

This is the Indian consumer scene. Sad thing though people are too blind to see all these. Better stop posting reviews, people will abuse you anyway.

These things you have to take in your stride and it part of being in a vast country with million different tastes/emotions.

But, considering all, I have not TD'ed the bike but IMO it feels like Dominar has more positives than negatives and even those negatives might be too minor to bother about. So it depends on how you projected them.

Could you do me a huge favour and tell us more about the pillion comfort? This is a major deciding factor for me as I'd like to take my wife on rides with me as pillion. Thanks!

The rider seat is very comfortable. The tushy sets in well and the ride was very pleasant with no strain.
The pillion seat is relatively a bit smaller. It will not be comfy for people, who sit "one side". If seated normal as usual, the pillion should be comfortable enough as the quality of the seats is very good.
Take a TD and if possible have your wife as your pillion and take her opinion into consideration
                          Ride safe.
                          Cheers,
                          SV

Bike looks quite good in person. Finally a good product from bajaj after the pulsars. Gonna affect sales of their own products as well as others. Was looking to buy rtr200 but this seems a much better deal. Will wait for the initial reviews and then book.
