As for the engine oil, I am not sure if BMW has the bullshit clause of "if you dont use our oil your warranty will be voided"

"CHAIN SPRAY" and Chain "cleane", dont even have the decency to type it in properly or mention Chain Lube instead of "SPRAY" and the cost of those? Did they use Fairy Dust to Clean and Lube?

Surely BMW is a "Premium" brand.

BMW is simply fleecing the gullible. No other words for it. This is the price of premium-ness. Although this is particularly egregious, I find it no different in spirit from how RE owners are willing to spend in the name of "quirkiness and character".

Also BMW posting string early numbers is comparable to the Jeep Compass phenomenon. They have a shallow pool of customers and will struggle to sell once that is saturated, if they keep up their "premium" shenanigans.

That's what you get once you get on the premium wagon.

There was an article on rushlane where they mentioned that - BMW 310twins cost less than Duke 390 in USA. Considering both are manufactured here in India and are exported as CBU to USA, the price ratio should be present in India as well. But, BMW decide to skip that for Indi, so here it sells well above KTM. is plain robbery.

I've seen something similar in other Made in India products, companies keeping product prices sky high as if they are selling imported products.

Why spend almost ₹2500 for chain spray & cleaning??? Don’t think thats imp for warranty perspective. You can clean yourself with a toothbrush & these chains are usually self lubricating not much maintenance is required

We are looking at this the wrong way. I don't see this as exorbitant when one considers the price of the bike this works out to 1% of the cost. So if you take it this way then it is actually cheaper than RE service which you have to do every bloody 3K and spend 2% of the cost of the bike.

But yeah, he should have saved that silly lubing price, for that money you can get 2 packs of Motul chain lube + cleaner.

I agree with Sparky on this. Spot on! Based on my own RE servicing 3 in a year or atleast 2 times definitive (every 3000kms), I spend upwards of 3000 each time. BMW has service interval of 10000kms or once in a year, it amounts to almost same service cost for a much lesser valued motorcycle than BMW. I still feel, Chain clean / lube and motorcycle cleaning is a rip off. Customer should have say in what the service center should do and what they do not while servicing. IMHO, not cleaning bike should not be voiding the warranty any way. But that's my take.

Ummmm, am I reading it wrong or given that GST remains 9% + 9%, the respective columns have varied prices mentioned?
Chain Spray and Chain Cleane must be made by collaboration with their M division or DTM Racing team and verified and approved by NASA.

In the first invoice, INR 1793.60 (which includes GST) is used for labor charge, INR 896.80 is charged for consumables where brake cleaner, parts cleaner, rust off and HSS is used for the cleaning of the specific parts.

Cleaning of motorcycle which included washing and complete detailing was a value-added (additional service) which cost INR 1569.40 wherein we use products like BMW Bike Shower Gel, BMW Gloss Polish and buffing the painted parts.

In the second invoice, chain cleaner and chain sprays were used to clean and lubricate the chain and the leftover materials were even handed over to the customer for future usage.

Also we are the only brand that offers 3 years unlimited warranty and which needs only four oil-change services over a period of 3 years, making it a bike with one of the lowest cost of ownership in premium mid-size motorcycle market.

Your logic is flawed, compare the price and the 1st time service costs of the 'premium' motorcycles which cost more than the BMW G310R and you'll realise they are making a mockery of the customer. For eg. My friend's Triumph Thruxton 1st service costed him less than 7k, shouldn't it be 1% of the bikes cost? The Yamaha R3 which is as 'premium' as the G310R costs less to maintain and offers the same 'premium' servicing.

Nah, what Sparky meant is that since the G310R is overpriced, its quite natural that the Service bill seems overpriced in the eyes of the common man but its perfectly normal for the Owner of a G310R. Afterall they like getting ripped off apparently.
