Well.. I got know these rules when I was getting my car license. He was good cop and he explained me all these.

I was stopped frequently around lalbagh Area. All for silly reasons or no reasons. If they stop, the first question I ask is "yake". This itself will make them release that Im not a lame person who doesnt know the rules. Then they give out silly reasons, I want to check your silencer, check your horn etc. Once he said, its DL reg so I want to check the papers, I asked are you from DRI no right! then why you cant to check it. Then he said. Go!

And another time, near Ulsorr I was stopped by a DRi showed the papers and he left me. But then there was a poor car fellow who didnt ve emssion certificate and he was fined 600Rs...

Lucky Banglorians... Is this fact applicable to Banglore only or throughout India? .. Coz I have read somewhere sometime back that we shall not stop if some normal constables ask us and the authority is only given to the Cops of RAnk or above of Sub Inspector. But Police on Traffic duty have this right irrespective of any grade.

yes please !!! anyone here know anyone who can provide us with the specific clauses/sections etc of the concerned act ???

i have already fought pretty violenty (verbal) with cops and shamed them here in my area. nothing with regular cops, only traffic cops. the thing i hate is they first ask for your license and keep it, then you can't go anywhere till you bend to their demands and only then they hand over the license.

if i have the required info, i will keep a laminated printout of all the relevant information and show it to him when he asks for the license next time.
There once was a woman who was quite begat.
She had three babies named Nat, Pat, and Tat.
She said it was fun in the breeding,
But found it was hell in the feeding
When she saw there was no tit for Tat.

Since he couldnt talk English and I am not fluent in kannada , he gave me this no 22942113. I talked to this person who could speak English. He asked me from where I got the news, I mentioned CityPlus online site.
Then he forwarded the call to another official and he confirmed its true.
If we have license and have not broken the rules , police cannot ask us pay penalty

                      Thanks for shairing this Info.
Dude, thanks for the second number and the fact that you cross verified

                          Very informative piece of info..Thanks

One other incident.. One motorist and I were stopped at the same time (just like that for nothing).. I didn't have the emission certificate & the other guy didn't have the insurance itself... He was let to go because he talked in Kannada But I was fined for emission certi and for number plate cause I couldn't speak the local language ..
When I questioned this is what he responded - Incorrect Number plate fine is Rs 600/- so just pay 200/- fine and leave don't argue
Many of my friends have faced this problemo...

Yes it happens. Local people know how to handle these cops.

I never hand over any of the papers. If they ask I keep it in my hand and ask them to see. Thats it. And I neither talk politely or rudely for that matter. I just convey that I mean business and nothing else. Seen this approach to always work. Most of the times I have been stopped only because my bike sports a delhi number and cops smell easy money in hyderabad and that is the time when I am all over them asking their credentials to check my paper. Incidentally I have all the papers including my road tax certificate for hyderabad and that turns their face red so many times ... but MAN i hate their motives.

Try to question the police regarding this and they will just start to jump on their heels as no such kinda rule exists
