fz is one of the best city bike.. and if you give them even r15 or p220 they won't be able to catch a thief with any of the bikes as they don't know how to ride a bike.. for them a good handler is needed which is FZ and not a bike with a TOP END speed.. they need it for city commuting and solving problems after stopping the bike thats it..
I like the idea of giving them FZ they also need style
Riding, loving and enjoying my lord of the streets.. FZ-S...
And dreaming of an R6/R1/FZ1/CBR 1000RR

Wow one more way to waste the tax payers' money.
Just when you think they have run out of tricks and ideas they come up with more.

WILL DC outfit the FZs, or the 220, or any other bike given to the policemen, with guns and shit, or probably a flamethrower from the exhaust?
With terrorists freely moving around in Mumbai street on 26/11, (remeber the footage?
) you need machine gun posts not a 70k motorbike!...SOMEBODY PLEASE KNOCK SOME SENSE INTO THESE COPPERS!!!
Man!, motorbikes(220, fz rtr,pulsar150, shit even the slendour) are a completely unnecesary luxury for the police,
they should get better weapons, rather then the post war Sten submachine guns and .303 Rifles they are using!
And finally, i'd like to ask you, dun care if the cops get the 220 even, a +70k bike in the hands of a COPPER? Sorry state for the bikes then!....their 220s or FZs wont be able to catch even cycle thieves!
(Imagine a policeman pouring kerosine into an fz's tank and trying to start it, then asking about the abscence of a kick!
)
This is a tamasha by the police, go get your pulsars overhauled, cleaned, and modded, they should do jsut fine!
I gun the throttle, the motorbike wails, the forks heave up, the revs climb, my view blurs, air gushes in my lid, muscles tighten, street lights streak. Just another day at work...

Guys... cops need their dignity too. they need the equipment and the comfort too.
How many of you can work happily in your IT offices if the comfortable Haworth chairs are replaced with Neelkamal chairs?
Yes, they are spending a bomb on those machines and somehow that causes some indigestion.
Also, the cops here get bikes not to chase offenders. Even if they have to, in our traffic they can catch at least 95% of them chasing on an FZ16.
And then, we even have to understand that there are Law & Order Police and Traffic Police. Who is going to get the FZ's?
But then, when will they get their weapons upgraded? When can they really show some fight to the extremists without loosing their lives???
Dear Government, please spend some money to upgrade the weapons too. And. most importantly, train them regularly. Unfortunately, the police in India gets trained only once in their life time - during recruitment.

I am sorry, The comment was not on the police staff, they are great no doubt. Mumbai police are going to be world no 1 againt in a short span of time, its my prediction.Originally posted by darkknight View PostMitra....stand for a day with these guys to understand atleast a minuscule part of their job...

But the amount that is spent on the FZ's to get it modified from DC. most of them were commenting that 15-20k bucks for DC modification is absoulutely not required. and also if given it is under-utilised, hence my comment...Last edited by neo88; 12-02-2009, 12:12 PM.Dream the impossible because dreams do come true !

Guys, stop kidding about Policemen all the time.
You have to understand the fact, All the so called "Tax Payers" are living a civilized life just because of Policemen.
There is nothing wrong if the FZ series are provided to them, they really deserve it. Keep in mind for a common man an FZ would cost about 73K, but when its offered to Govt it would be less than 45K.
Also FZ is the best city handler in its price point. Any bike can do any stunt if you are capable of handling and balancing it, but the good thing about FZ is that you get more confidence than any other.
(With all due respect on India)Don't compare the Japanese Yammie with Indian bikes in terms of chassis design and handling. Yamaha and Honda have over 50 yrs of experience in performance biking where the Indian ones only have a heritage of Moped/Auto Rickshaw manufacturing that too with foreign aid from Suzuki and Piaggio. No offence we are competing with the Japanese but still a long way to get closer.
Regarding the old story "Police catching Thief"
Here in Chennai, things have got a lot better, Policemen who are involved in Highway/City Patrol are provided with Apache 180.
I am not sure if any one with a P220 or an R15 can escape a Police Sergant in his Apache 180. According to the RTO Papers the RTR 180 shows 22.5Bhp. Not sure how they modified it and whether it was customized by Police of TVS am not sure, but those bikes will kick every other thing on road, both in terms of Performance as well as Fear.
If you dare, come down here and do some non-sense stunt with your soooper doooper bikes and get chased by one of the Policemen here.
For sure he is going kick your butt as well as your bike's and finally endup behind the bars.

+1. The FZ struggles to go beyond 120kph. Apache RTR would have been better.Originally posted by Puneet1 View Postwastage of taxpayers money
. whats wrong with Pulsars or Apaches .
Fz's aint fast , Yamaha service costs a lot , no crash guard so when bike fall
, low mileage , not a indian company
So now the Poser Police will be after The Posers On Fzs
But look out for butt ugly FZ's on our roads soon, all thanks to DC. Crime rate will drop as no one will want to be chased by these FZ's with ugly fairings designed from melted buckets. DC has designed quite a few horrible cars apart from one or two good specimens.ATGATT - Because hospital ceilings are boring !!!
