@tenhut what is the break in method u used 4 ur bike?
i read in 1 of the posts that ur bike was 1 of the most free revving bike.....
Follow the manufacturer's method, with occasional high revs after completing 800 kms. I have 2100 kms on my odo now, and it rides like a dream now - super smooth engine and gearshifts.

You can get the oil changed even before the 1000km interval (a lot of people did), but only if it gives you peace of mind. I got mine changed at 900+ kms and there were no metal dusts or filing. I checked and re-checked. So the fears of metal stuff grinding your engine of you don't change your oil is all bumkin.

Maybe it is just a way for bajaj to recover the costs of training their technicians

I was going through the service manual, and at 12k (3rd) service, 24k (5th) service and so on (after a gap of one service), they are checking each and every part of the bike, short of opening the engine. And parts change/replace will also happen in these intervals hence increasing the cost of service.

In the same vein, the 2nd, 4th and 6th service will be under Rs.500 per service since they go through only some basic check-ups.
