Today's Times Of India (Delhi ed) states that Harley are taking the CBU route. Also mentions prices from 7 to 15 lakh. The bikes will launch mid 2010.200 | 300 | 1200 BOXERComment

Yeah, I could gather they were rushed. I had email replies from them post 9 pm last night, now thats working hard for you! Today however, all is quiet. I guess they are planning for the Sunday ride. Unless the Buells are coming to town, I can't see any HD being sold in India under 12 Lakhs. I suspect they will go the route of Ducati and position their bikes are premium lifestyle accessories rather than "Motorcycles". I am sure they will do very well even if they sell just 100-200 bikes across the country to the various politicians, film-stars, lawyers and people in the media.
If they do come out with a bike at under 12L I'll be stunned

gsferrari- My guess is the sportster 883 standard/custom may start at 6-7 laks range coz its international prices are way cheaper than the R1 or CBR1000 etc. Besides, although the sportster may be considered by some hardcore Harley guys as a girly bike etc, it still is among the top sellers internationally for HD. Personally, having owned the sportster many years ago, I feel it is a good steed for the Indian roads, esp with its narrow design & road manners which are something close to the Enfield Bullet-but just watch out the road humps as that can grind some of your bottom parts on the sporty. Just add a screaming eagle air filter and pipes and its a nice bike for the sunday rides to the local joints where you can announce your arrival in style and can also do an ocassional touring ride if the seat can be softened a bit.Originally posted by gsferrari View PostIf they do come out with a bike at under 12L I'll be stunned

Yes, its a good news that Harley is coming to India. And we bikers and specially tourers are very glad to know this news
. So a part of Indian consumer is ready for it. But are Indian 2-wheeler companies ready for it? Are they ready to face Harley Davidson? No, because here we only have ONE cruiser Bike i.e. Bajaj Avenger 200 . (I don't wanna include thumpers). Why there is no competition for Avenger? Enticer came and gone... so probably Yamaha could be the first one to Re-enter in this segment. But what about others???

How could u forget our 1 & only Royal Enfield ???
RE is one of the oldest brands in India of cruiser bikes.. And I according to me RE bikes are much more better (in other words AWESOME) than the Avenger..
