Hey Guys, i had a question--The US price of a 848 and 1198 are $13995 and $16495, which is equal to Rs 683795 and Rs 808255, if i take the dollar rate as 49, just to be on the higher side, add to it 110% duty, so shouldn't the indian price of 848 be 1435969/14.35 Lakh instead on of 15.91 Lakh and for 1198 be 1697335/16.97 Lakh instead of 20.56 lakh. Is Precesion Motors taking a very big cut on every bike or my calculation is all wrong

another point i would like to add the US price of 2009 CBR FireBlade C-ABS is $12999, which is equal to Rs636951, to add to it 110% duty, it comes to 13.37 Lakh, but it is selling for 12.5 Lakh.

As per my understanding...(no official data for this)...the import duty on products braught to the country for business purpose might be less that the one on products used for personal use...as I said...just my understanding...got no official data for this

My Boss refuses for increment, would love to show him this article that bike costing near your A6 has launched. Where is recession in India???Damn

P.S:Can anybody throw some light on why Italians are way costliest than Japs??
            Technology or Import duty???
Few reasons that I can give is
            1) Eurpean labour costly than japanese-adds to cost that the company pays for one unit.
            2) Raw material costly in Europe than east side of the worl (only an assumption - got no proof for this).
            3) Desmodromic valve technology - though very old still the one of the best in performance.
            4) Precision and accuracy levels of production seem to be higher than Japanese bikes. I mean they look to be better finished in terms of production quality. (again - got no official proof for this)
Could be more...these are the only ones I could think of.

This Showroom is like 300mtrs from my office.
I had heard about the Opening of Ducati Showroom in this building.
Didnt believe it on the first go but I used to look inside the building everday while going home.

So the showroom is finally up!!
I would try to gather the confidence to go inside the showroom and have a look at these dream machines!!

@Aryan Da and Ken Da: Some nice coverage and photos there. Thank You.

It is on the Road leading to sector-56 from Bristol Hotel.
It is also called the Golf Course Road.

The Name of the building is Global Fyour (Something Similar).
It has a Merc Showroom also. This building is just next to Dell's Office.

The area is DLF Phase 5. Good Luck

the reason is that the indian dealers- precision motors have a huge profit share in every ducati sold ,plus ducati which seems to be putting a huge price premium just like gucci & others in indian luxury market.
its time for the rich boys to and come out to play

hi guys just to inform u Nick hayed updated hi blog recently, and this is wat he wrote about his first ever visit to india...

Well, I'm stuck in Chicago airport on my way home from India thanks to some great weather. When I was going thru my phone I saw a few photos that I wanted to share with you guys.
They pretty random but here's the run down:
My favorite one is from when I was at Ducati headquarters last wk checking in with all the crew and checking out my 2010 weapon. Watching them test engines on the dyno was cool. I'm happy to report they're doing their home work.
Also had a few pictures from when me, my bro Rog and a few of our boys went to watch the university of Kentucky basketball game. They beat north Carolina in a thriller that went right down to the buzzer in a instant classic for sure. Freshman John Wall took over, he is a bad dude!!!
Also got a picture from me and all the fellas at one of my best friend's wedding from a few wks ago which you could also could say was a instant classic!!
HAHA And last some pretty interesting pictures from my latest trip to India where we launched a new Ductai dealership. It was my first time there, prob wouldn't go back anytime soon on my own time, but wow didIi get to see a few things I cant say I see everyday and meet some nice people.
The biggest thing was seeing cow's in the middle of the road, yes I said cow's in the middle of the road in the middle of the city. Turns out there some people actually worship these cow's and the locals told me you better off to hit a person in the road then a cow!!! No wonder they didn't let me drive!!!
Last but not least there is a photo of me training in the dirt

These are not really the reasons...
European labour is not costlier than Japanese. They are at par. Most Jap AND European assembly lines are mostly fully automated. But not for all. For example... frames... ok we will come to that later.

Raw material is at international prices... they will be at par as well.

The Desom train is not an older tech than valve springs. It is a different tech. But yes, it is more expensive.

And as I was saying, another bigger factor for the price is the frame... the Japs use the machine made, twin spar. Almost all Ducatis use the trellis frame which costs more.

Ducatis have higher carbon and titanium content as well.

Just went through that. Pretty interesting stuff. Most of these guys are quite astounded to see cows and bulls and animals in the middle of the road and having right of way by law!
The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

this really sucks, a 1000 is better than a 848 in every respect and cost much less than it. I really don't understand this stratergy or is it that there greed has blinded them from the obvious. Ducati are already sold at a premium across the world but adding more for india is just like day light robbery. Few months ago the Monster 696+ was being sold for 9 somthing now the price is 10 something, just beacuse they have showroom now.

I would like to know how many bikes have they sold in india, what there target is and do u guys think will they be able to achieve it, are some indians that into a brand that they will pay any amount asked?
Also i was reading not so good things about Presision Motors, i mean the way they function.
