When I visited the Gurgaon showroom there was this spanking red 848 staring at me and was seducing me . I happened to be with my wife tried to play safe and being one hell of sucker with the sports class, began to check the bike out. This being comes equipped with Brembro 320mm brakes... so went to the brakes section and I saw something with the inverted shocks, which kinda shocked me!!

There were tiny cut marks on the shocks right below it's canister. I asked the person over there to have a look because it seemed to be a fault because while in use, those cut marks could easily damage the shock absorber sealent. But he said it's fine, it's like that only.... so, I decided not to argue with him unnecessarily. But I checked rest of the bikes there and non of the bikes were having such cut marks on the shocks.

Another thing the person told me that Ducatis are Farrari on Two Wheels as compared to Yamaha!! Well with the L Twin Engine I agree that they have a humungus Torque band compared to the Inlines, but a 848 compared to the 09 R1, I think the Cross Plane Crankshaft is taking the edge up, with the best of both worlds!!

    What say??
Twist your wrist and feel the shift!!

if we take looks into account there is no competition between 848/1198 and other bikes in India, however when you compare prices there is a huge difference here, whereas if you check u.s prices there is not much gap(R1, cbr). plus 848 has a very aggressive riding position, very track oriented, and it gets very very hot under the seat. but again the sound is amazing too. so the mind says no to 848, but the heart says to hell with it, go for the ferrari on two wheels.

+1 but the 848 is not in the same league as the 1000's its more in league with a 750 or a 600 plus i think it down on everything except the looks when compared to a 1000 and the spares can empty your bank account. If that dont matter its one the sexiest bikes around

When I visited the Showroom arround a couple of weeks back, they said that the only 1198 they had was sold off on down payement of more than 21 lacs . So, now anyone who wants the MIGHTY BABE, has to wait for 3-4 weeks before the lady touches down in the request color (which off course has to be a Shining Red for a Ducati)!!

Best of luck for your Wish Bro.... let me know when you go to take the deliver.... I live close by... at least I can have the pleasure of hearing the lady one more time when you crank her up!!

Man dont they look like Pretty Monsters. India is really becoming the lime light for Superbikes. Every Superbike brands wants the taste of Indian soil on there rubber & thats smells good isn't it. It feels like want to buy one & admire by just seeing it in my Garage.

I can check it out later this month, but my guess would be around Rs.30,000 or more for the tri-color Arai.

Yes, I was partly responsible for that one. I literally pushed the buyer to go get it! I saw it happen. I know the buyer and the seller etc...
The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!
