          • Riot, the P220-S has infact inherited the thicker front forks and the clip-ons from the P220 DTS-i/Fi as well. So, no qualms in that department. What, however, disappoints me personally is if I, today want to get the "S" version, it would not really make any difference visually, except perhaps that rear-disc setup and the clip-ons.

And I also feel aesthetically it would feel the same too. I was all game to get a 220-S, but now, looking at it in flesh really disappoints me.

P.S: Can someone confirm whether Bajaj has actually made some changes to that digital instrumentation, or is it the same old one? Because, the last I remember, I had read in some auto-magazine that the instrumentation panel will be "updated"
            :)

            • No changes in the Bike except the Fairing.
Fairing change includes the electricals like Head lamp power & consequently the BCU.
All the parts except these are same.

There would not be lots of visual difference. But performance wise difference is there.
                  • U get a much bigger engine (read 3 bhp more).
                  • It handles much better (stiffer suspension).
                  • Better brakes (both discs. I felt them to be much better than P220 DTSFi ones).
                  • Better tyres (soft compound).
                  • Not much drop in mileage as well (U dont rip & P220 DTSi F gives about 45 at decent speeds of upto 70).
                  • It would be a really good choice for stunters. More power with a lighter front at a very affordable price.

Yeah the instrumentation panel has been upgraded as well to the ones on P220 DTSi F.

Major advantage of this version would be that since its cheaper by almost 3k people would have a look at this for sure. Effectively Bajaj sales will increase & since most of the parts are shared Bajaj wont have any problem even if it has to discontinue a model in future. I somehow feel this will be a much bigger hit!

PS- I want to get this naked look on my FI.

                  • @Rahul: Thanks for the post. However, one major thing which will be missed is that sweet projector lamp! If BAL had somehow incorporated that into the 220-S, it would have been absolute killer deal!

That is one thing which has to be compromised. If a Projector is included the street-fighter version would be kickass!

However it can be done. But DIY!

                      • I find this hilarious, a good while ago 'someone' posted pics of 1) the upgraded P200 with the P220 looks! and 2) the P150/180 with P200 looks...

Point 2 is now reality, and Point 1 is kinda reality too considering they chucked out the FI

                        Two conclusions
                        1) Bajaj are around and are keen on improving/changing/strategizing stuff which is good
                        2) People around are funny! They ridicule stuff and then praise them when presented in a different format!

                        And third conclusion:
There are other nerds around like me who are just silent about it

Instead, shell 3-4k more when buying the bike and go for 220 DTSI - F (man all this F,S, FI, DTSI confuses me a lot)

                          • Not a good move BAL

                            Pulsar 220 Dts-i F-80k(on road)

Pulsar 220 Dts-i S-76k(on road) Removal of quarter faring & adding a rear disc & look like P200(IMO)

                            Pulsar 180 Dts-i-72k(on road)
(All prices are on road chennai with few rs difference & 4k difference between 3 Pulsars)

                            My Verdict
Buy Pulsar 220 F for extra 4k you get a projector unit for frequent tourers.
Buy Pulsar 220 S for ppl like the city use than highway use.

                            • Instead Plonk in H4 HID in the S version (HID costs 3-4k.
Will Give U more light than the DTS-i or the FI.
