Hmm, yeah doesn't better, but equals. According to Bike India Au 09, RTR does 0-100 in 13.2 Secs and 220 marginally faster at 13.1 secs.Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostNope, check the timings again. RTR180 outperforms R15's 0-60&0-100 timings, not P220's.
Still a compelling reason to give a edge over Apache.Been There, Done That; Better!

When Bajaj did it's research for the upgrades of the Pulsar last feb I was one of the few guys present at that time. Out of the three variants kept there the current 220 F and this P220 S were the two bikes making most sense. True it does become a bit crowded up there but I saw guys telling the BAL people they would not trade the street fighter look for anything in the world!
Well up till now P180 was the only option for these guys which was a step down from the P200. This at least merges power with the style of probably the best looking Pulsar (P200 was in my opinion a killer) till date.
Throw in the disc brakes and everyone has an option and by this I mean not just the Apache's and FZ's but maybe Bajaj's own P180 customers.
All in all we now have the most low priced (assuming bandhav's price is the final word) 220 cc, 21 bhp, dual disc brake bike of the country. How can that be a bad thing??

BAL has gone crazy . What was needed was a newly designed street bike not this old one.
Disappointed

Actually I think Cornering Capability results from the mix of Mass Centralization and how well the Swing Arm of the bike gels with the Mass Centralization. All Pulsars fail in this department (not sure about the P135). In my opinion the best cornering bike in the current lot are the Yamaha R15 and the FZ (series).Originally posted by Harmeet View PostPulsar 220 - fairing.
So this should mean lesser weight up front = better handling and performance and better cornering capability???
But ya with all the dimensions same and make same as the current P180, the big Venturi Carburettor 220cc Engine equipped bike should prove to be a real zipper

Inho......
Speaking purely on the aesthetics front I think and it is just my personal opinion based on my humble visual sensory perception I thought the P220 was down right ugly! I think this current version of pulsar is 100 fold improvement in the visual department. But it could have been 100000 folds better with the pulsar classic styling! Damn just thinking about those vertically rested needles in that analog console having a boner
every time you gas it is enough to give me a boner!
When in doubt...... Gas it!

For a new biker/buyer, having many options to choose from is a great thing.. but understandably for existing P200/220 owners it is not much to rejoice.
The P200 is the best looking Pulsar ever to me.. and its a good thing that this new P220-S will be keep it alive.
If the headlights on the P220-S are equally bright as on the current P220, maybe i'll covert my P220 DTS-Fi to look like the P220-S.

220 badge does'nt gel well and why is the 220-S being given the old fork set of the 200 instead of the new meatier 220 front? And no Clip on too?Originally posted by haxor View PostMy reaction : Doh!

Is this a PS-job pic or is this the final one?
@devilpulsarian
You bet buddy. But even 200 had fairing vibe issue did'nt it?

Bajaj stops a particular model when the sales drop tremendously. If people buy the 220 S in huge numbers, they won't stop it!
We even might see another iteration of the same design!
Everybody out there does not know how the international streetbikes are! And therefore are happy with what they get!
Bajaj will extract every penny possible trying out different permutations and combinations until people stop buying Pulsar.
Let's hope Yamaha does not follow the same strategy!

I dont think Yamaha would ever follow Bajaj's way because if they would have wanted to go that way then there is no sense in pricing a 150CC Fazer similar to 220 CC Pulsar but I think they should try to follow some of Bajaj's marketing gimmic.Yamaha's FZ16 is good 7k pricier then other 150's (agreed it has best technologies) & Fazer with same engine is 14 k higher than other 150's & similar in pricing to P220's pricing which is much more powerful. If Yamaha wants to hold on to its share in Premium segment then they have to somehow copy what Bajaj is doing otherwise it would be very difficult for them to educate each & every normal buyer about why are their products pricier then the competetion & also less powerful with smaller 150 CC engines( barring R15 because its in a league of its ownOriginally posted by nitrosatya View PostBajaj stops a particular model when the sales drop tremendously. ).It would be very intresting to see Yamaha pricing their products similar to Bajaj's & then we will have the real competetion among the premium players & it would be hard for Bajaj to stop Yamaha because Yammies look much more better

That is exactly what yamaha is doing, FZ16, FZ-S and Fazer, same bikes, just different stickers and a fairing.Originally posted by nitrosatya View PostBajaj stops a particular model when the sales drop tremendously. If people buy the 220 S in huge numbers, they won't stop it!
