  • The dome ruins it all. An FZ kinda front would have set the bike apart. None the less, its going to be an amazing bike.

    • some more pics...

visited the delhi, kirti nagar probiking service station today to get friend's old avenger serviced.. and got to see the new p220, in the p200 looks!
i saw nowhere was mentioned that so-much-hyped S, so i won't call it the p220-S

changes i saw were the fins on the tank lil bit extended towards bottom (though i don't know if the p200 had it like that); and the missing front fairing, with the projector lamps (which is one of the strong points of the p220 dtsi (old version)).. (also a new 220 sticker on the back terminal end, which some might like, or might not)
rest all same, the dial looked the same, and no more addition of features i saw when i turned the key ON

clicked some pics on my 3.5 years old v3i (so not much clear pics) and here they are..

      • bajaj should have done one thing , rather discontinuing p200 they can keep this one as p200 so that p200 will not have name called "failure model" from nomads
and also old owners of p200 will have their own market value for their vehicles

i'm so relieved that they did not go the other way, upgrading the pulsar to 250cc or more!

i'm still a proud owner of the best bajaj bike

              • U get a much bigger engine (read 3 bhp more).
              • It handles much better (stiffer suspension).
              • Better brakes (both discs. I felt them to be much better than P220 DTSFi ones).
              • Better tyres (soft compound).
              • Not much drop in mileage as well (U dont rip & P220 DTSi F gives about 45 at decent speeds of upto 70).
              • It would be a really good choice for stunters. More power with a lighter front at a very affordable price.

Yeah the instrumentation panel has been upgraded as well to the ones on P220 DTSi F.

Major advantage of this version would be that since its cheaper by almost 3k people would have a look at this for sure. Effectively Bajaj sales will increase & since most of the parts are shared Bajaj wont have any problem even if it has to discontinue a model in future. I somehow feel this will be a much bigger hit!

PS- I want to get this naked look on my FI.
where do u get the 3 bhp more??

I believe he meant, as compared to the P200 DTS-i (17bhp vs. 21bhp of the P220 DTS-i, bikini faired version).

                • My overall feedback about this 220-S is positive.

But if Bajaj thinks they have upgraded enough for many more years to go, for everyone including bikers, they are so wrong.
Get us the same Pulsar series with the 4 valve setup, monoshock and a vibe free engine. That should free them from updates for next 2-3 years or so I believe...

Still members point out that the Pulsars can't match the competition in terms of Rear Suspension. Isn't it about time they start hunting suppliers for Monoshocks?

                    18 hp sir, not 17

But I'm sure on a dyno we would get ~14-15 Bhp or rear wheel hp...

Not many people like the P220 fairing.

It's important to underline the fact that a unfaired version had to be cheaper than 220F at same time costlier than P180, and with the current setup that's exactly what was needed.

Projectors would definitely had looked good, would had added weight, 2 bulbs etc escalating the cost. If i'm not wrong a projector setup will added weight on a smaller frame of 220S would have affected handling and turning ability of the bike.
Even the weight of a HID ballast inside the dome affected the bikes dynamics in my case. In fact kudos to Bajaj for providing at least the 55W headlight setup (if it's there)

BTW one my friend is looking out for the 220S, any idea on the sprocket count (gearing)?
                        +1.. Cant agree more.! ..

U own the P200 & forgot that it is 18 bhp!

                          • Bajaj is doing nothing just using those parts of P200 which were left unused after the discontinuation of P200.
Now story begins here now what visual difference b/w the P180 , P220S & P200
What more comical is that P220 has same bikini faring as 200 with oil cooling written there.

When P180 2009 edition was launched i was thinking y Bajaj didn't used same tank extension / bikini fairing as P200 with black plastic end which looked better. But i got it now Bajaj was saving these for P220S or what ever it may be called.

                            • ^^ welcome to what we 200 owners felt with the 180 UG a while back

Bajaj should get kudo's for their version of a hollywood sci fi movie... where every bike looks just like the other..

I've even got a nice song for them ... ever heard the famous line.. "all in all you're just another brick in the wall " suits them well

                              • Its good to see bajaj re-entering the naked bike arena, but wont it lower the sales of the present P220 sales?and moreover there is no basic difference between p180 and p220s
                                only RD and exhaust pipe.
