Just now I watched the programme. Apparently 8 out of 10 bunks sold 2-2.5litres when asked for 3 litres. A bunk at Chamarajapet sold 30ml

This 'sting operation' demolishes another myth of IOC bunks being good. Phoneix (God, I will never be able to get the spelling right!) is IOC.

I have not filled in any of these bunks though I pass through Rajbhavan & R.T Nagar bunk regularly

Now if any T.V Channel is kind enuf to do a 'sting' on Shell

so many bunks are happily doing quantity malpractices
what if they do quality malpractice?
from this April all metros has to go bs4, but our refineries may yet to upgrade if at all a bs2 fuel poured in bs4 vehicle it will still affect the new vehicle badly
i dont know who will help us!

saw a live telecast today that all Bangalore bunks are ripping off customers...the news crew did a sting operation....
When did you watch this programme? I believe it will be aired at 9:30PM today. I saw teasers/ad of the programme and wanted to start a thread on the same.

I had always my doubts on the functioning of those petrol bunks in and around Bangalore. There were just couple of IOC Bunks which i trusted.Even some of the BP Bunks also resort to malpractice.
    WoW! Thats some drastic step

I think it maybe a HP pump at RT Nagar & IOC at Yelahanka.

I am curious to know how some very 'reputed' ones like Cauvery pump at Lalbagh West Gate, Shell bunks, IOC pumps, etc fare.

9:30PM->Need to put a remainder on my cell phone

Yep, in Pune too. Stick to reilable pumps, that's the only solutions. Some pumps are consistently cheaters.

Its very common here in Pune too, as i have noticed at some of the pumps that they always pour in 50rs. of fuel no matter how much you tell them. Then they try to cheat by not putting the complete fuel. 1 or 2 times i have personally observed this and heard many a times from others.

been ripped of more than once. Tricks vary from diverting your attention by using a second guy to talk some nonsense like petro cards or about engine oils.
other tricks include resetting the meter mid way. For instance if you say 300. They put in 100 and say thats it . and when we ask put in for another 200. but the trick being the first hundred was never put.

and being not knowing the language makes your attempt for a retaliation meek.
This diversion of attention, I belive is peecular to Bangy. In other cities I have seen other tricks but this rampant cheating methid is quiert unique. After realising this fact 4 years, back I make sure, I keep a continuous eye on the reading, come what. The guys usually try to ask you wether it's cash or card, I ignore them till the petrol is filled, and suprisingly the guy asking you will also stop pestering you..I can see the dissatisfaction on his face..

I never get good mileage with Shell.
    5-10kmpl difference compared to BP.
I don't doubt Shell, but in my case as well I generally get a difference of 6 Kmpl on Shell Super compared Xtra Premium. Either it's fuel or there's something fishy about Shell bunks!

    welcome back
Automation relates to computerisation of retail outlets as a ministry of petroleum initiative which promises & delivers Q&Q (quality & quantity) assurance to end customer.
This will be mandatory in the coming times & implemented across all outlets in the next 5-8 years.
These outlets have certain hardware as mentioned in my post as part of Automation (pics attached) or you can just enquire at outlet if it's automated.

outdoor payment terminal (similar to swipe machine but works on real time basis.also supports self fuelling scenario)

Tag readers (RFID device to capture delivery details)

Density display (to display the current density of product)

I know its not possible for always.. but if the bunk is nearby to your house or something.. try to get the petrol in the 2 or 5 litre Bottle (any bislery or mineral water bottle with any denomination) & you may easliy find out or juge the accuracy of the pertol pump... again i know its not possible always but once you get an eye you can start trusting it ... hope it works
