  • Yamaha to launch RX100 in 4stroke!

Yamaha may resurrect RX 100 in 4-stroke

So, I casually flip over Business Standard and I see RX100 picture. The news item is

    I am excited, no doubt.

But, not sure, it is justified. How much would a 100cc develop on 4-stroke platform? 7-8BHP? I would like it to be a 12-14BHP, liquid/oil cooled probably with on road price of 80k thereabouts. Will be a monster

Ok, by now I am sober. In all probablity this is Yamaha's bid for entry level segment and I guess if at launched won't be too different from Crux & the like in terms of performance.

Wow Nitin, now this is the type of Good Morning news I wanna read every day thanks a ton for sharing this.

Now lets see how much truth is in it, and how much a 4s RX100 would do with its Legendary 2s.... I am excited and happy but a bit sceptical as well. Dont know man but yeah this is some news

For a mere 14BHP from a 100CC engine for a whooping 80K? Well I would rather settle in FZ16, if I've to, unless its a twin 100CC (ever heard?)

            ^LoL! Yeah, Crux, Alba, etc

Admittedly, I am not an expert in automobile technology. But I said liquid cooled coz, it would be difficult for four-strokers to develop 14bhp out of mere 100cc. If they did engine life would reduce. Present day 4 stroke bikes make only 8-9PS. So on that assumption I talked of LC engine.

Whether LC or not, but if it is going to be another Crux then there is no point. That is all I wanted to convey.

I found Crux to be looking very similar to RX 100. No prizes for guessing why that one doesn't sell!

if they launch on the lines of r15 is than its surely gonna eat the 100 cc market as they already have the setup for r15.

No wonder yamaha are still trying to make a joke on themselves.
Instead of defaming RX100 why not they come up with some good 150 commutes.

RX100 would sell if it is still kept as a 2 stroke and will outsell any other bike even today.

Wasn't this bike supposed to be just "show and tell" bike from yamaha.
No specifications from the company given out. Looks like a gladiator at most places.
I guess its a <135 milled bike pitted against P135LS and Twister.

THis SZ concept is a 135cc mill, underbored from the FZ engine. ( word from yam marketing person )

                            isn't this what the crux is???...4s,similiar design,106cc.

Thats where yamaha is making mistake. The bike was not sold only for the design. It was for the engine(2 stroke) and power to weight ratio.
