Very rightly said Payeng... There are MANY bikes produced by different manufacturers around the 650 - 750cc range..

i think the reason behind suzuki selling us this bike is that ,the bandit has very few sales around the world now ,well the bike does look very ugly,
and r trying to get rid of this model.
i would put a little extra cash and go for the r1 instead of wasting my 9 lakhs

Practical as compared to the rest of the SBKs launched: Yes! But for me 9L is still too steep. However, this baby would do wonders on the bylanes of Ladakh, close to the heels of the behemoth GS 1200!

Why is not there an option 3:
              3) No, its a VFM but not my type.

I would have selected this one, & maybe many would have...

What VFM are we talking about? This bike goes for 5-6 lacs in USA and little more in UK. And we are buying his for 9-10 in India?? 95 bhp will get you somewhere around 200. Is it Value For Money?
                I don't think so!

VFM relatively, like I mentioned in the text in the first post. Also its more to do with the duties rather than the companies making money off the margins.

A stock Bandit hits a top end of 145mph.. i.e. 233kmph.. good enough for most riders... and the power delivery is more like a maruti k-series ritz engine.. with peak torque and power coming at around 4k rpm. its good.. but not very exciting.. but its cheap(comparatively.. i mean.. the 600cc supersports cost more than this) too. and will fulfill 98.5% of all riding most of its riders put it through. Practical enough to be a good buy.. and you end up saving 4 lac WRT Hayabusa / R1 / CB1000RR.

Voted 1; No doubt this is a good VFM; but not my piece of cake. My love is more towards the 600-800CC categories & not the litre class.

Too costly still. Was dying for ages to buy an affordable great bike and then the baby ninza was launched and i am still, dying. What I really need is a bike under three lakhs and fit for touring. anymore and i keep dreaming.

Let's discuss what we have right here in India only... Next closest option we have is CB 1000 R which costs some 10.07 Lacs on road, in Delhi.

So, the actual argument is whether this 1.07 Lacs is really a decent saving?? Albeit, we all know this bike's a better deal.

But, I doubt whether this will set off the Sbk culture on Indian Roads. We are still a long way from there... CBU will NOT solve our problems, period.

Something big sized should be made specifically to suit Indian conditions like fuel, cost, maintainability, spares, various service centres, etc. to be a really good deal for us. Exactly, like the R15 was made for India.

I definitely dont have that good money to buy a BIKE worth few Lacs. But if I still think about it, I will say it is still more practical. (Kill me for using the word PRACTICAL)

Despite the fact that we all are on one platform of xBhp, we still have varied tastes and requirements when it comes to bikes, and that is because some of us are tourers, few of us are dragsters and then few of us are purely track oriented.

Bandit definately is costly, if we talk about 9 Lacs, but the other side of the coin is, how many of us will risk few lacs for a Grey Market lacs. import. If one is getting a multi cylinder bike, that has good power (95 bhp as in the case of Bandit) and something that can let you ride from Kanyakumari all the way to Khardung-la via the sands of Rajasthan is good enough.

I would still say, I dont have 9 Lacs to spend on a bike, I would better buy a Car. I would else, look to buy something like a BMW Motorads, but till that time, am happy about the news that we are opening up for few more imports.

                              all cheers

                              dcs

P.S: lets not think that 95 bhp is less. Most of the 1 to 1.5 liter capacity cars that we ride still cant deliver that much. OK, Now kill me for this!!!
Its not about the BHP or the CC, its about one common religion called Biking!!!

Agreed, at 9Lakh, i would rather get my self a City / Verna and call it a day, but at 4.5 or even at 5L, i am all out for sports or sports commuter bikes.
