Since you posted the link I assume you would have also read it. Ducati was not dumb. That bike was made in 1950s. What are you trying to project here?

Why doesn't anyone comment on the weird front look ( fairing design above the headlamps)? I know compact fairing will result in less vibrations, breakage etc but that is just plain ugly. I am not a necessarily a full 'gixxer' fairing fan, but at least something like the old karizma would have been better.

too bad hero didn't launch their CR at the same time as ducati. they could have bragged about how they beat ducati on specs !

Cause everyone has the basic sense that functionality has to be given a higher priority than looks. That visor is made so tall for a reason. It's not there to enhance the looks. Helps protect the rider from wind. Hope you know that.
And the part above headlamps had to be designed to match with the tall visor. If it were blank, it would have looked even uglier.

              1. Hastur 620cc: How can it be called a foray into 600cc category? To my eyes, that's not an engine but it looks like an empty aluminium dubba. Because when I saw some real engines last time, they had tons of wiring and piping going around. I'm not saying they can't make a 600cc engine, they can spit out an engine of that capacity overnight with the help of EB or EE or BE. All I want to say, you can't say you are entering into a category with a 'concept'.

              2. HX250R looks even better in bright colors. Hero should avoid promoting it in dark colors.

              3. At first I thought hastur is missing right side rear foot peg but then I discovered, those wheel spanners are retractable. I do hope they are detachable too, you never know when you'd need to change the wheels. Very practical setup.

              4.

Someone nicked a seat here. I think that female model was jealous.

              5.

Hero has pulled this cunning bike on competition. This is the first bike made specially for India. There was always a need for a bike which had special protection against rioting. Even though the number of states in India is as low as 40 in which riots are broken out on weekly basis, this bike is surely going to succeed. I also liked the raised front mudguard. It really makes sense when you're riding over bumps, speedbrakers, dead bodies etc.

              5. After Hero, I think, it's Bajaj's turn to make a cafe racer out of a platina.

Are you suggesting that i don't have any sense? just kidding.
BTW i am not saying from my point of view, i am indifferent to its looks, and already know about the wind protection factor. All of our xbhp fellows are also evolved enough to understand the functionality, but don't you think the majority of our indian bikers still perfer looks over functionality? The masses still want a fairly good looking bike, especially in the sub 2 lac range. Although I happen to love all the BMW tourers with huge front visors, but i don't think the majority likes it. Look at the designs of bajaj pulsar 375 and cs400, they are made just according to the average motorcyclist in India. (Please don't start bashing me that hx250 and pulsar375 etc are in different category, i know that, i was just making a point).

I'd meant no offence there. But then again, speaking of Bajaj, it's strategy to enchant the customers might be very different than Hero's. Which is very useful as we end up with variety of bikes.
But launching bikes according to what the costumer wants is not the only strategy. A child might cry for the things that it needs but the parents understand better as to what is needed and what is not. Hero in this case is doing the same. It has found the need for tall visors necessary, and MOST people shelling off that much cash would have a bit idea as to why it's needed. Also as soon as you look at the visor, you get to know why it is there. We ZMR owners were frustrated with the short visors as they hardly served any purpose even while crouching. So now we have this on the new zmr and also the HX250r... And we are grateful for it. Majority of the people buying such bikes will obviously know why it's made tall. It's better to sell a bike which serves it's purpose well than to sell one which just looks neat but hardly does anything to keep the rider comfortable..

                          LOL, I get that.
Point is not about bragging. The point is about what a Cafe Racer is, it is just plain looks and not specs.

Been to the Auto expo today...
Great event with lots and lots of crowd.
Ask the officials about the possible launch dates of the HX250R and came to know that it will be available by the end of this year for sure...i.e prices will be launched by the festivals season in Oct'14 follwed by deliviery in December'14.
The bike looks great in flesh.
Now starting to save some bucks for it from now.
