i am reading this thread after a long time......after going through the official review, i want to comment a little bit....
well the good things are definitely, the GPS, back side screen, and other things like temperature sensor, altimeter etc...and anti slip feature, robust design and water resistance...
however there are certain negatives too..
1) OS: this phone uses the same java based OS that are used on micromaxx and karbon mobiles with some modification to incorporate GPS and other features....and there's nothing much to write about this OS. Its very basic. You cannot download and install a lot of goodies available on net for symbian, android and other reputed OS....its time of android phones. A phone with Ducati Badge must have a more capable OS like android or something like that. negative point for OS.
2) Phone suite: Again the Phone Suite is same as that of micromaxx and karbon phones with name changed. if you have used a micromaxx or karbon phone earlier you should know all 3 viz. micromaxx, karbon and videocon share same OS and phone suite. phone suite is very basic and i had a hell of time using it on my windows 7 laptop untill karbon updated drivers for windows7. c'mon a phone with videocon and ducati badge should have a better phone suite.
3) CandyBar design: And what is so good about candybar design.....man it the world has moved ahead with querty keypad and full touch screen and this candybar thingy is not desired at all. the phone should hav a bigger screen (the bigger the better) for effective use of GPS while mounted on bike and a querty keypad would have definitely helped. if videocon guys are listening, either make it full touch screen or big screen with querty keypad.

Got it
Good sturdy look
Price Rs.8065 (planet M.got freebies like desktop speakers+car charger etc)
Arm band is cool
Free GPS which can work even without sim
High intensity LED torch
Good speaker volume
Poor signal reception.frequent call drops
Unnecessary jing bang lights at the back bottom whch give the phone an utterly cheap look when they blink in multicolour with an irritating polyphonic startup tone.
GPS takes forever to lock on to satellites.but fine after that.
No perfection in the software or the user manual inside, with bad language and spelling mistakes (turism for eg.)c'mon its a ducati branded phone.is a lil professionalism too much to ask for?
But for its price and as a second phone only for touring.its a good buy.

Small lil Features Missing in d Phone...
1) No customizable themes, Wallpapers or Screen savers..!!!
2)The only Shortcuts u'll find are the GPS, Cam & sports key .. you cant tweek the navigation buttons or create shortcut menu like in Nokia or Sony Ericsson
3)There is no direct 3.5 mm Jack, there is converter for it via the data cable slot..
4)It's not a Mini Usb nor a MicroUSB ... Dunno what type it is .. Although seems like a More Flattened MicroUSB..
5)Mono Speakers Makes even the Best songs Crappy...
6) Both d Earphones SHUck
7)Hate the OS...it is Slow & makes u feel Stupid..
8)Hate the PC Suite Even More...!!
...
& maybe i'll discover many more missin features Soon...
But Inspite of all these petty issues.., The Phone does Great in One Dept.. GPS..!
The Reason i Bought it... Also Loved its Battery Life..
Gave me a 6hr GPS run with Low Brightness just takin 2 sticks of battery indicator...
I'd say Go for it as a Backup Phone...!

well you can switch off those lights.....
Went to a 5 star yesterday(it means a lot to me as it was my hard saved money from my pocket money despite inflation) and kept my phone backside up on the table and every passer by was giving me the looks as if it was a 50K + phone(damn i thought crowd in a panch tara never looked at other peoples money...they just come there to splurge.....).....as they just saw the DUCATI logo on it........one suited businessman even had the guts to ask me if the ducati logo was original and not any sticker found in the shops.....
i think mobile store stocks it and any shopowner will get it for you albeit at a higher rate if you place a order to him.......Originally posted by ATHUL4R View Postis it available in shops now?
